  • I was also had after booking with Trainline - fortunately noticed the first £10 'subscription'. I like everyone else had no idea that I was signing up for a subscription (for ?) and would swear that I did not give my credit card number, they must have got it from my Trainline booking? Anyway I have e-mailed both Trainline & Shoppersdiscounts.co.uk & hope to get a refund!! VISA have suspended payment for investigation! So many people being had - how are they getting away with this scam??
  • I have just looked at my bank statement, and £10 has been withdrawn by shoppers discount, i did not permit them to do so, the link was through National Express coaches, offering a £10 refund, I will be informing them.
  • I have just been in touch and they have agreed to refund 3 months of my 'subscription'. I have been paying since Jan '08 apparently when I inadvertently agreed to a discount voucher for Charle Tyrwitt. They say I can fill in a form to reclaim the rest!
  • I have just booked some flights with RYANAIR and came across the £10 cash back incentive. I clicked on it to look at it but I have not signed up to join this scheme, then I clicked the no thanks take me back to Ryanair site button. I thought I would do a search for this on forums as I had a feeling that I had heard something about this a long time ago. I have never seen this on RYANAIR before when I have booked with them. I do hope that I have not fallen pray to the scam. I use RYANAIR a lot and will be most disappointed if they are party to this sort of practice. I shall keep an eye on my bank account for any unauthorised debits.

    Hello All.

I had noticed an amount coming out of my account that I wasn't sure about for quite some time, and I've been reminding myself to check this, but never actually got around to it.

Well today I finally had a spare few moments to check…… and man was I surprised! I found that they have been taking £8 for as long as my bank keeps my online statements, all the way back to July last year!

First I contacted my bank, but they wasn't exactly helpful so started to Google and was shocked to find just how long this has been going on for, via many reputable companies, on both side of the pond!

Thanks to this thread and especially jamie75’s guide, I should be receiving my claim form soon.

When I was on the phone to SDR, I asked how they got my details and was advised it was via a purchase at BASE (the shoe shop). I instantly remembered this transaction as I made my purchase in the ACTUAL shop and NOT online.

The shoes I wanted were out of stock so the assistance advised that they can order them and they will be sent directly to me, however in order to do so I need enter my details (address etc), on to their computer, which I. No harm there, but this was a simple, in store, online terminal (the till in fact). There were no tick boxes, I did not visit/sign up to the website etc and so there was NO money off vouchers offered for me to accept. My details were simply passed on to SDR without ANY authorisation and bang, there goes my money each month.

To say I’m shocked at the amount of well known names affiliated with this scam is a understatement on a biblical scale, and I’m currently in the process of warning as many people as I can.

Does anyone have a definitive list of companies affiliated with SDR please?

    Hi jackhulk,

Sorry to hear SD&R membership found you too, but you will soon have all your money back unlike some in here who settle for the last 3 payments .
Thanks for submitting who passed on your details too; I think it’s these details which will one day end this scam.

I shop at Base too, but what they did to you has got to be illegal.

The list above seems to be the main offenders by the online search I have done, there seems to be many other sites which have passed on their customers details to SD&R but I cannot be sure as the forum poster wasn’t sure or didn’t find out.

I know this site doesn’t have ‘stickys’ at the top of threads. But I think the contact details of SD&R, a guide and a plea to everyone that is signed up unwittingly to SD&R to post which business sold them out is a must.

Many people who visit this thread have fallen victim to this, and they find out how to get their money back but do not post. So the scale of this is much larger than can be measured here. I urge everyone to post and name the business who sold their customer’s details to SD&R as this information is vital to stopping this.

Thanks again for the guide jamie75! Without that I most certainly would of taken the bank route in trying to receive my money back.

How long has this been going on for and why are such big names happy to enforce this scam?

What exactly does SD&R offer to its members anyways?

I do recall seeing the voucher offer a number of times over the years, but never clicked on it. I like to think I’m pretty up to speed with regards to shopping safe online etc, but the way I was done confirms that affiliates are simply passing on our bank details regardless weather or not their customers accept the voucher offer!

As per my earlier post, please add Wondershare to the name-and-shame list.

I live in Canada and bought some software from a company in California. They used a collection agency in Minnesota for the credit card transaction. As I'm a Brit I used my Barclaycard. Lo and behold GB£8 has been charged to my account by Shoppers Discount & Rewards (SD & R). I'm not going to bother contacting them for the money. Instead I'm going after them. I have notified Barclaycard that my details have been fraudulently used and to make no further payments to this outfit.
Shopper Discount & Rewards has a PO Box number in St Abans. This box number is contracted to a company called Handling Matters Ltd with an address of Harpenden Hall, Southdown road, Harpenden, AL5 1TE with a telephone number of 01234 742777. Their website is http://www.handlingmatters.co.uk/ They are a subsidiary of a company called Ark-H.
I have spoken with one of their directors, a man called Barry Salmon who states that one of the services of his company is to collect and forward mail for a number of companies, S D & R being one of them.
From what I overheard I suspect that S D & R are running out of Sevenoaks in Kent.
    Their website is here: http://www.shopperdiscountsandrewards.co.uk/
it shows that they have a registered office at Third Floor East, 47-50 Margaret Street, London W1W 8SB. This will probably turn out to be a front in a solicitor's office.
Their website states that it is owned and operated by Webloyalty International Ltd and is a UK registered company with a number of 05922626.
Webloyalty is a trademark of Webloyalty.Com.Inc.
Here is more information on Webloyalty.Com.Inc.:
    http://www.manta.com/coms2/dnbcompany_drsp95
    Here is their website:
    http://www.jobs.webloyalty.com/
There are numerous complaints about this outfit in the US. here's one:
    http://adam.rosi-kessel.org/weblog/2004/12/24/webloyalty_aka_wli_reservations_is_a_scam
    Here's more:
    http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/272/RipOff0272036.htm

I have filed a complaint with the UK Trading Standards and with the FBI Internet Crime Unit.
My next stop will be with the UK's Serious & Organised Crime Agency (I used to work for one of their forerunners). Then it will be the Canadian RCMP.
Finally, once I've identified exactly who's who I will pursue a claim through the civil courts in the UK.
I'm still considering using the BBC to flush these people out.

Now there is someone SDR never wished they messed with! :rotfl:

Hows it going AndyRC? I'm reading through all 26 pages of this thread so I'm sure you've updated but I'm only up to page 4 so far.

Nice work on the list. Until now I used Ebookers a lot, but as from today never again.

These companies need to be taught to treat us consumers fair or else lose our custom forever.
