i'm sorry but am i the only one who used this website successfully? Got my £15 cashback from some train tickets and then left online as soon as the cheque cleared.

It clearly stated it was a 30 day trial and would charge £10 a month thereafter, it was also very clear that it was a seperate company form 'thetrainline.com'.

I think anyone who ends up paying the £10 and complains needs to be accompanied by an adult when using the internet...

Why dont you F off back to the scummy company that you came from, you just make it even more obvious that this is a SCAM.

Before long your company will be sued out of existence for being nothing better that common thieves.

I have fallen for this scam to through National Express and I was charged £10 from my bank which took me over my overdraft limit and so I will be charged £22. I have sent them an angry e-mail. I will be ringing up shopping discounts today. I will won't compensating for going into my overdraft so I am going to demand £32 to be refunded.

I doubt it will be easy but they can't get way with this and neither should national express and any other companies in partnership with shoppers discount. I did not give my bank details to shoppers discount natioal express must have forwarded on my details which i suppose by agreeing to the terms and conditions i "agreed" to but its a scam as i would never have signed up for this scheme if i had known about this thread.
  • I cannot believe that I have just realised after about 6months that they have been taking £8 a month.
I have no idea how they got my details and i certainly didnt sign up for anything.
Of course I have tried ringing them but they do not open on sunday.

I am discusted that over 1yr from starting this thread people a still getting scammed and nothing has been done to stop it.

I came across this thread when i googled SDR to find out exactly who they were showing up on my statement.
None of their website addresses are working which doesnt surprise me.

Rest assured i will be ringing them again tomorrow and WILL demand a FULL refund or Fraud will be involved.
Thanks for all the advice given on here.

Thanks for pointing out that I and the other 470 people posting on this post are DUMB.
Shopperdiscounts took a payment of £8:00 taken from my credit card since February 2008 and I have only just noticed. My fault for not spotting it. (Not many people as bright as you)
Having just rang them; they are cancelling my subscription and refunding me three months. When I asked how I had subscribed, it was from a link on National Express when I had purchased my ticket online. Not obvious to me that it was a separate company.
I will be trying to get the remainder of my money back from them in due course.

Maybe your right..It is just you.

I think anyone who takes your bank details from another company should be banned from business.

If anyone wants to join a scheme that involves handing over your bank details, this should be done manually by the customer AND NOT by some convenient "we will simply get your existing details from another company". Which SHOULD be illegal.

This is what is known as a SCAM, why else would the company automatically take your details from another company?

Surely if a customer is perfectly able to add his or her bank details to one company, they are just as capable of adding their details to another company.

Unless of course it is plain obvious that no adult in their right mind, would willingly sign up to such a scam by including their bank details MANUALLY.

The majority of adults are not as gullible as chezvegas85, who after doing the maths still comes to the conclusion that SDR offer a good deal.

Hi to everyone, I can tell you i've been conned by the SHOPPER DISCOUNT scheme. I never gave my bank details and yet they took out of my bank £8 for 18 months. Just found out and am livid. Phoned them up and cancelled my membership. PLEASE DO THIS, ask for your pro rata money back. That is they give you back a percentage of your money. I managed to get back £24 three months worth. YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR IT OR THEY WILL NOT GIVE IT YOU> Get back what you can, don't let these thieving scumbags get away with it. It's not fair, but unfortunately it's legal.
I hope this helps you to get back what you can.

All the best, take care and watch out for the scams.

Hi gmp123, SD&R will give you all your money back for the 18 months, not just the last 3. You now have to post a claim form to them to get it back, I think there's a claim form on page 21 of this thread. Please don't let them get away with the rest of your money.

My wife recently got had by this when she bought some software online from Wondershare. Getting her money back was fairly easy though.

She also got had by VPRewards, although for substantially more and getting her money back is proving more laborious.
  • I purchased train tickets and insurance via the Trainline. A service I have used for many years, and many times. I was offered a £15 cash back for my purchase, which I applied for. I received a single £15 cash back, but since then I've been charged a total of £30 in monthly £10 charges for my subscription to the discount shopper service.

This is theft and fraud. I never requested this subscription, and I certainly never authorised a monthly £10 charge.

And, since this scam is connected to a purchase of an insurance product, this is reportable to the FSA Financial Ombudsman as a complaint.

I will be making complaints to my credit card company, the police, and the Financial Ombudsman concerning this illegal criminal act of fraud and theft.

I have complained to shopper’s discount, and I've also complained to the Trainline.com service. Trainline were not interested, and they have lost a customer forever. I will never ever use them again.

I have logged onto my shoppers discount account and cancelled my membership.

Don’t you get totally fed up being ripped off like this by businesses trying to squeeze the very last penny from you? What a shame that businesses do not value customer loyalty as their greatest asset, and correspondingly treat their customers with respect. Good business, and good business practices, is based on mutual respect between customers and the business. This is just a scam by crooks.

Wow I hope you are successful, I would love to see the FSA shut them down and make them refund every single customer for every payment they ever made!!!! HOw good would that be!!!!!
