I've just happened across this on another thread and I notice people mention Interflora.
I purchased flowers for a client on a work credit card today with them and got a £10 discount thing pop-up. As far as I know I didn't click anything on it, and didn't fill in any forms on there.
Does this mean I haven't accidentally signed up? I obviously don't want this kind of thing to show up on the bosses credit card and have the hassle of sorting it out.
I ticked the t&cs on interflors site (didn't read them - I know it's silly but I was in a rush to get them done) but nothing else.
Thanks to all who have contributed on this thread - I shall keep a keen eye out now.0 -
I think its time for action, one or two emails arent cutting it to watchdog or the media, I think if every one of us on here emails investigate@mirror.co.uk (Andrew Penman) with your case along with a link to this thread, together we can all put a halt to this scam and save others from befalling it.
Please join me in emailing them and reporting this scam. I say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Hi, Newcomer here.
I have had £8 coming from my account for 2 years from shoppers discount!! (silly me for not noticing) so anyway, below is an email i sent to them and the reply i got back

Hello
I have noticed your company have been taking £8 per month from my account for over a year when i checked back on my statements, I have not signed
up for this and want this cancelled immediately and to be refunded in full!
I have been informed that your company uses a very discrete technique to sign up people using various respected websites, I shall expect a FULL refund or
I will have no choice to contact my solititor to take action against you. I shall be contacting the various companies i have used which i have been told you use to get
people to unwittingly sign up for this (interflora, easyjet etc.) and will be demanding an explanation
This is the reply i got back from Shoppers discount

Tuna Fish, glad you had all your money back, me too
However, for the future, when anybody tells you it's your fault for not reading the small print, well that's a bulls... as they MUST make it clear in capital letters that they are going to take money from you. If there are lots of people who are conned by these people, there must be a reason. One person conned is one thing, but thousands of them means there's something wrong. There are laws and policies that regulate contracts, especially on the web there are more protections for the consumers. Spread the word! Take care

I can report a change in this company's tactics!
I booked a ticket on TheTrainline today, was offered the £15 discount off next order, but this time was asked to give my card number for them to "pay in my rewards". This seemed suspicious because companies only need your sort code and account number to pay in.
I gave my card details anyway because the webpage went on seeminly endlessly with repetitive information but no mention of a monthly subscription, and I thought it would be safe with a company like Trainline refering it.
I did find it so strange to be asked my card details though that I started to research it. My 'offer' doesn't seem so bad if I read the small print. I get the £15 off for signing up and am charged £10 a month like others.
For the £10 a month I can apparently claim the £10 back each month by emailing a Trainline.com ticket conformation to Shopper Direct. My mother books at least one ticket a month so this in theory should leave me evens.
For my membership, I can claim cashback for using various high profile stores from eBay @ 2%, Littlewoods @ 8% and more obscure ones up to 25%. This is not much of an incentive to me as other free sites do this offer.
The other incentives like extended warranties / damaged / stollen goods might make the whole affair worth while?
Get extended warrantee. We''ll automatically DOUBLE the manufacturer's warranties on all your qualifying purchases. You'll be covered TWICE as long, up to one additional full year!
Get damage, loss and theft Protection - so you can enjoy worry-free shopping and added peace of mind. All your qualifying purchases are protected from the second you complete your transaction, and for 90 days after. If your purchase gets lost, stolen or damaged, you'll be covered!
Get delivery guarantees. If your qualifying purchase made from a catalogue or online retailer gets lost or stolen during delivery, we'll cover it!
£10 monthly bonus from TheTrainline.com - as a member of Shopper Discounts & Rewards, you can enjoy ongoing savings when you make a booking at thetrainline.com with a £10 Member Bonus each and every month, up to £120 per year, for as long as you remain a Shopper Discounts & Rewards member.
Ultimately the value depends on the ethics of the company, which due to the deception in the initial signing up policy seem few and far between.
I'd really like to hear from anyone like me who signed up half knowing what the scheme involves and has successfully claimed or not managed to claim a part of what the scheme promises.

Hi silkkat50,
Sorry to hear they've signed you up unwittingly too. The good news is that it's really simple to get all your money back, I put a bit of a guide together on page 21 of this thread on how I reclaimed all my money back. Please make sure you get all your money back and make your friends aware of SD&R. Best of luck0 -
