• I have just got off the phone to Shopper Discounts and Rewards; I was very direct and reiterated the point and over and that I categorically do not want a membership. I also told them that their memberships are obtained in an underhand fashion and that had I known that clicking the £15.00 link would mean that I was signing up to a monthly subscription, I would never have clicked on it to start with.

I was told that they offer a 30 day free trial, during which you can cancel and you will not be charged. I was also told that I can still claim the £15.00 cashback, but I refused as I do not want to be held to randsom in the future over £15.00.

My advice to anyone in my position would be to email this company in the first instance: customerservice@shopperdiscountsandrewards.co.uk

Then follow up a day later with a very stern phone call : 0808 234 1539 They are well aware of the fact that they've been mentioned on this website, but don't seem bothered.

Anyway, certainly within the 30 day 'free trial' period you shouldn't have any trouble getting your membership deleted.

I also asked for a confirmation letter of my cancellation of membership; I was told it will be emailed to me, but this remains to be seen.

GET PROOF THAT THE MEMBERSHIP HAS BEEN CANCELLED OR MAY STILL BE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH CHARGING YOU!!

Thank you to all of the people on this thread who inadvertently made me aware of these scammers...I had a lucky escape!! xx
• I've been caught out by this too. But this was through purchasing a CD from CDWOW. I have used them for years so believed this to be a reputable company if the link was from them.

I have taken the advice of the posts above and sent them a message requesting immediate cancellation and a refund of £10 they have charged to my American Express card. Luckily I have noticed on the first charge they have made and have made it quite clear that if they don't refund me immediately, remove me from their records or if they charge me again I will not only be informing Trading Standards but BBC Watchdog and the Police for using my credit card details without my permission.

What is concerning is that you don't actually give them your credit card information, it must be taken from the company you have linked to them from. I will be informing CDWOW of what has happened as I can only hope they are not aware of these under hand tactics and if they are I will not be using them again!
• Just a quick update on my previous posting.

Contacted SHOPPERS DISCOUNT by both email & telephone on the freephone number..Spoke to a very helpful customer service advisor, and in the strongest terms possible requested my membership be terminated, and all money's fully refunded...She was very helpful, and advised mt that with immediate a=effect my request was carried out...She also informed me that any money paid thus far would be fully re-imbursed within a period of ten days.

I did receive a confirmation email, but as yet my refund hasn't appeared..Will keep checking until I'm fully satisfied.

So far...so good

Take care out there, its a scammers paradise.

• :embarasse Had made something of an idiot of myself by managing to ignore a recurring £8 charge from shopper discounts. To be fair it was on an account which I was managing for an elderly relative and which had many many dd's on it. But had managed to ignore it for 2 years (shame!):embarasse
Contacted both shopper discount (or webloyalty as they are now) and interflora. Within two days the a refund had been agreed - and after 10 days everything had been refunded. :T :T
I speculate that in March 2007 - when the transaction to Interflora was made - the website was misleading and so they have made refund with no argument.
Can only say that both companies have behaved professionally. I was prepared to do battle - but am releived not to have to don armour etc!
• Sadly I have also been scammed after shopping at Interflora.

The shopper discount company have agreed to refund me all my money (which is embarrasingly a lot) but I have told them now three times that they cannot refund my credit card as I have cancelled it.

I have had one more try to see if they will send me a cheque, after which i am going to have to call the credit card company and get it temporarily activated again ... sigh

Just one point, when I found out about this and rang them, they said I had filled in a form ... nope! I tried to log onto their website and used a variety of passwords which none of them worked. I asked them to send the password and this was nothing I have ever or would ever have used! So I did not fill that in nor would I have given someone the authority to pass on my details.

Interflora says its my fault for not reading the small print ... right! They should let people know in no uncertain terms what they are getting themselves into!

Its Interflora's fault for not mentioning they have such a scam operating within their own Terms & Conditions, something it forgot to include in the small print, Ultimatley Interflora's fault why I and a lot of other "loyal" customers, will no longer touch them with a Barge Pole, serves them right for not reading their customers extremely LARGE and BOLD print!

• I can't believe I have been caught out too. I phoned shoppers discount, who offered an immediate refund of three months payments, plus a claim form for the rest. I let this go for a YEAR before I noticed. I am never going to go anywhere near Interflora again either, so if this was a their idea to increase sales then it has flopped spectacularly
• Just a breif update on my own personal position regarding shoppers discount following my previoys postings.
Checked my bank statement today and true to the word of the customer service rep I spoke to, all my payments have now been fully refunded...So although I was scammed in the first place, at least I've got my money back which in my books is a RESULT..

If anything, its made me become even more aware of potential scams.

Keep em peeled.
