One thing I have to make very clear (although I do recognise it is misleading for those who are not careful you do have to enter an email address, your address (to send a cheque) and YOUR DEBIT / CREDIT card details. The companies associated with these sites do not hand your card details on, you have done it yourself. You have simply been offered cash back, hastily gone through it and agreed, not taken the time to read the details and then forgotten that you completed the initial cash back form.
The way the initial form is composed, where the further instruction are not in giant letters (although they are pretty clear) is slightly misleading to naive people (who amusingly claim to be so "careful") I guess and I suppose slightly immoral.
I do not work for this company. I recieved my two cheques then cancelled my account before my 30 day free trail expired. Guess what, made £25 and wasn't charged a penny by this company. How did I do this, by being trully CAREFUL.
For all you people complaining of being scammed - always treat cashback offers with caution and read, VERY CAREFULLY, all the details. Mobile phone contracts often offer cashback but it is only in the depths of the small print that they inform you cashback is only by redemption and you have to send bills (usually every four months) recorded delivery to them within a strict time scale. This is not a scam but the mailing of invoices is very similar to discount shopper and rewards site.
Next time you come across a link for this site after a transaction follow the instruction CAREFULLY and you can easily make £25 and not be charged a penny. A true money saving tip (for those who are CAREFUL).
I read through this thread carefully before deciding to sign up for this offer.
I signed up on 9th Feb and then took out a magazine subscription for £13, I forwarded the confirmation e-mail and have just received a £15 cheque (So I'm actually £2 up!)
I am allowed another reward of £10 for Feb so I have just taken a subscription for £12 and again have forwarded the e-mail.
Once I receive confirmation from shopper discount and rewards I will be cancelling the membership-
As this is is within 30 days I should not have to pay any fees and I will be checking my bank statements for any untoward transactions.
I can see how people will feel they have been scammed as I had the same thing with Vista Print a few years ago, that's why I read through the terms very carefully. And if you don't read the offer properly it is easy to feel scammed. Afterall this is their intention- you see the £15 cashback and don't read it properly and inadvertantly sign up for the monthly payments.
As Phil has said, if you are careful and make sure you cancel in 30 days you can get £25 worth of deals from this company for nothing. :T
Really it's no different to any free trial, Love Film etc. If you don't cancel then you will get charged.
You just need to read the small print before signing up to ANYTHING online!

Today's Independent On Sunday is reporting that several high-street names, including B+Q and Debenhams are breaking off all dealings with Shopper Discounts and Rewards because of the many complaints they have received from their customers. Let's hope all the other companies who use them pull out as well. Full details here:-

Thanks to everyone for these posts. I've just had two £10 payments taken from my credit card (January and February 2009) and finding all these entries makes me feel better! I've contacted my credit card company and the customerservice@webloyalty.co.uk address. Just got to wait and see now.
I presume they 'got' me through the Easyjet site. Very worrying that so-called reputable companies are allowing this to happen.0 -
I could not believe it when i returned to work after a week off and was given a letter stating my company were 'considering dismissing' me after they believed i had signed up for 'shopper discounts and rewards scheme'.
There was a letter attached from the above company saying that on 3/2/09 i had signed up for this scheme with my company credit card. I was gobsmacked. On this very day i had booked a flight from Stanstead airport to Newcastle airport through easyjet (you prob guessed this much!) I was panicking and felt sick with worry as i do not recall ever signing up or such a scheme that would charge my 'company' credit card £10.
Thanks to this website and all your posts i have managed to clear my name, but it is very scary to think that if i hadn't have known about this site, this scam would have left me without a job. So thanks everyone for sharing your stories!!!!:T0 -
I have been taking some advice regarding this matter and am looking at going to the small claims court to obtain a refund of bank charges after shopper discount started taking money from me after I made a purchase through all posters. Shortly after I made that purchase, I switched bank acconts and it took a few months to notice SD were taking money from my empty account. I was and still am livid.
Anyway, it seems to me that quite a few people here, don't recall signing up to this scam and this, me included could perhaps leave SD open to charges of taking money without consent. I am very sure that I didn't sign up to this and would like to know how SD obtained my bank details. Are all posters passing bank account details onto SD regardless??
Iwould be really interested to hear from anyone else who feels that they definatly did not consent to SD having their bank details. At the very least it will hopefully bring the antics of this bunch of criminals out into the open0 -
I just noticed a transaction of £10 named shoppers discount in my tesco CC statement. Rang the tesco guys, they were happy to put me thru to shoppers discount people directly. They cancelled my subscription & refunded (well, at least in email) £10 back to Card.
All I did was ticked a checkbox in ebookers website regarding a £10 discount for next order0 -

I received a call from my credit card's fraud department (Natwest Mastercard) querying the charge from "Shoppers Discount". I said that I had no idea what it was and that I would not willingly have subscribed to any nonsense like that. They said that it was a charge put on when using the eBookers website, to which I replied that it was charged by deception or fraud.
The good news is that they knew exactly where the charge was coming from and had flagged it appropriately.
I would therefore suggest, that anyone getting caught up with this also calls the credit card company to report the fraud. Quite apart from having two charges put through for one transaction under different companies, the data information act is probably also being violated.0 -
Just posted this to eBookers:
We booked through eBookers (and regularly do so) but found that were were charged by Shoppers Discount. Luckily it was flagged by the credit card company!. Take a look at this forum: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=19196089
Giving payment and other details to other companies in such a surreptitious manner is crazy! You violated the trust that we had in your brand.
My question is: Will you be breaking your association with Shoppers Discount (as other large names have done)?
If you don't, I assure you we will NEVER use eBookers again.0 -
Had the same problem booking flights through ebookers and getting a charge on £10 per month on my debit card after responding to a '£15 discount off your next flight booked through ebookers' prompt. Don't do it and hopefully you won't get automatic membership. Got a refund as did previous posters and rang ebookers to give them a round of damns. This is totally unethical and I wonder how many people who don't diligently scan their statements are making unknown payments to these rip-off merchants. Have informed BBC Watchdog but so far no response. Maybe you should all contact them so they can see how expansive this problem is.0

Just to say that I have had the some problem with Interflora - my husband ordered some flowers and clicked for the £10 off voucher. I did phone the company and to be fair they were very nice and said that I would be refunded the money would be put back in the next 10 days and membership would be cancelled immediately. when phoning i did option 3 for 'other inquires' and got straight through to a person.0
