  • No but i have a direct phone number that my bank just gave me

    08082341539

They said they would stop it and refund three transactions and i had to sign a form for the fourth.

The bank said they couldnt do anything without cancelling my card which i've chosen not to do so I'm hoping they do stop and refund!
  • I swapped to a new bank account, just after I placed my order with all posters and got scammed by shoppers discount and because I thought my old bank account was all finished with, didn't check the statements, thus I've been stung with lots of overdraft charges.

I took a afternoon off work today to sort this out with my old bank and go to the CAB, they are confident that should shoppers discount refuse to refund my bank charges, I would have a good case in the small claims court. This is something I will not hesitate to go for, should I have to.

I think the whole case would also make very intersting publicity.
  • One more point. We should all contact not only the company we individually got scammed through and tell them that we won't be coming back to them but contact every other firm associated with this con and tell them the same thing. Tell your friends about this, post on internet forums, write to papers

    Publicity always works
  • Hi all,

I foolishly signed up to this site via Interflora in a tired state after work, then it just got me thinking, erm, why did they need a credit card number and went back and checked......then saw the £10 a month charge. I cancelled immediately, but have yet to receive an email on my hotmail account confirming it 30 mins after doing so (and it's not in my Junk folder), so I just hope it has worked.

If you are getting stung, then login with your account, go to the Customer Care tab, then FAQ, then General, and it allows you to cancel from there. Link for those who want it:

This is the paste after I have cancelled. Definitely print the cancellation if you can because you can't save the webpage once you have cancelled subs. Hope this helps. This is very dodgy and governments should move to shut down this immoral form of soliciting cash.
  • I noticed 2 payments on my bank account for £10 each for January and February for shoppers discount and i hadn't a clue what they were for. I phoned the telephone number 08082341539 and selected option 3 and spoke to them today and they said i had clicked on a button when i ordered an item from All Posters agreeing to a discount off my next order. i did not know i would be charged. Shoppers Discount have now cancelled my membership and told me they will refund my £20 which should reach my bank account within 10 days. I did email them aswell to make double sure.
  • OK, so now I'm worried after reading this thread.

Before Christmas I joined Shoppers Discounts and Rewards (SDR) for a free month's trial when I bought something from The Magazine Group (a gift subscription that I was buying anyway). The deal was that if I cancelled from SDR within a month, I wouldn't have to pay anything. The deal was also that if I spent a minimum amount (£15 I think) on anything from Magazine Group I would get a cheque for £15 from SDR.

So... I bought another magazine subscription (for a magazine I kind of wanted anyway), cancelled my subscription to SDR (and got confirmation of this) and hey presto, I did get the £15 cheque in the post from SDR! And strangely, Magazine Group didn't compelete my order, so actually, for no additional expenditure I got a free £15 from SDR!

Having read this thread, I'll keep an eye on my credit card, but as yet there have been no odd withdrawals.

  • We had noticed an £8 payment on our credit card statement and couldn't recall spending with 'shopper discounts', however as it was such a small amount we disregarded it (ashamed to say). Finally we called our credit card company and were directed straight away to the 'billing investigations' department. The person we spoke to indicated this was a common query and gave us the phone number for Shopper Discounts and Rewards which is 0808 234 1539.

Shopper Discounts informed us that we had signed up to their 'service' via the EasyJet website. Neither of us can remember agreeing to this service and we certainly didn't pass our credit details to them. It seems Easy Jet have passed our card details on (we will be making a complaint about this also). Shopper Discounts insisted they had sent us a number of emails informing us that our 'one month free trial' would be ending and they would be starting to take £8 per month off us. These had been caught by the spam filter, but when we looked at these they were just 'newsletters' and there was no mention of the payments to be made.

Shopper Discounts did immediately agree to cancelling the payment and gave us a reference number. They also agreed to a refund of the last three months payments and siad they would send us a form to reclaim the other 8 payments. We'll wait and see.
  • I pparently clicked for £10 cashback voucher on purchase of a national express coach fayre. I have called the number some of you have so kindly posted here and they have cancelled my membership and at first offered to refund last months fee however on a small push the nice french sounding lady stated they could give a max of 3 x monthly fee back and email me a form to get teh other months back, if this was approved.

So glad I decided to google this outfit before signing up, £15 off my next magazine subscription sounded too good to be true and it looks like I was right.

I've just emailed the magazine group complaining about their underhand tactics as well
Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves
  • This was pointed out to me when the bank was checking recent transactions.

First Direct with their usual excellent service entered a dispute going back some 9 months a total of £72.
I was intrigued so used the telephone number posted to contact the company.
My visa details were lifted from a transaction from MISCO. But the strange and worrying aspect is that none of my statements listed a MISCO transaction. I have used this company but with a different card.

Shoppers Discounts (Shane) were polite and agreed to cancel debits, when pushed he said he would refund three months but when I used the words scam and credit card dispute he readily agreed to refund the whole lot.
They must know they are on the edge of legality here.
