This morning, before i'd ever been on this site, i checked my online bank acc and noticed an £8 payment to shoppers discount, thought !!!!!! then came here and within minutes discovered (part relief) that i wasn't the only one taken in. So i phone them up and cancel my 'membership' with no problems. and was offered an £8 refund....problem is this had been going on since July, so i said no i'll have a full refund thanks! Their reply was our 'current' policy only covers a three month period (£24) and for the rest you'll have to complete a form and return it to us.
Again i pushed for a full refund and started to read off some of the threads on here to the operator explaning that i wasn't the only one who felt ripped off etc. Not having any of, in fact it was pointed out to me that i had used the service (once with easy jet, same like everyone else who hit the £10 cash back button, not expecting the £8 a month 'priveledge' for this offer) and they weren't going to budge from that decision.
I have to say though, that i would never normally sign up to any online cashback schemes but after hearing Martin bang on about it so often on radio 2 i felt there was something in it or at least no hidden 'issues' . Sorry to knock everyones 'hero', i appreciate all that he does but maybe we're falling into a bit of a trap with these kinds of apparent 'win win' offers.0 -
Following advise above I have just successfully recovered 3 x £9 payments to these criminals.
I was duped by TheTrainline.com (will never use them again!) when you complete your purchse there is a button that says something like continue which actually subscribes you to their scam.
I have complained to Exponentpe.com who are the private equity firm that own TheTrainline and suggest others do the same. I will also be complaining to the FSA and the information commissioner as theya re passing data to a third party without express overt permission.
There may also be grounds for a class action suit against webloyalty if any budding lawyer is interested in going for it??
Shame on all the websites that use these guys - please everyone who has been duped, complain to the site and to the site owners whoever they may be0 -
I don't often check my statements but noticed £8 coming out of my bank account 2 months in a row. When I investigated I discovered it had been coming out since March.
Long story short I contacted this bunch of charlatans and told them I wanted my £72 back.
Was told I could only get £24 now and would have to claim the rest back. Will await to see whether both these things come through.
Easyjet have lost another customer. I have phoned them today and made a verbal complaint and made it clear it was a complaint and I expected it to be handled as such. I'll see what they come back with as well.
Its shocking that this sort of practice can go on for so long unchecked.0 -
I am now feeling very stupid. Shopper discounts have been taking £8 from my account for 9 months and I have only just noticed. I was scammed through Easyjet too.
The trouble is that I bank with Cahoot and don't get paper statements through. I have complained and am being sent an claim form for refund via e-mail which just goes to show how much of a scam they know this is. Mind you I may have to search for the e-mail as I have not had any others over the nine months. Presumably because it weny straight to my junk folder and I didn't know to sort for it as I didn't know this was going on.
I am furious and wonder if we should all call Watchdog to highlight this issue?0 -
I booked some train tickets this morning via thetrainline.com and noticed after my purchase went through that a pop-up window came up asking if I'd like £15 cashback off my next trainline purchase. I clicked through and noticed that there was a personal details form pre-filled. At that point I Googled, thinking that it'd be a bit odd for trainline to ask for my personal details as they already have them. Found this thread so have managed to avoid the same fate.
This practice is absolutely out of order though. The way the 'offer' is embedded makes it appear seamless from the company you've ordered the goods off.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Hi I to have also :money: been sucked in to SHOPPERDISCOUNTS.CO.UK 0808 234 1539. I can confirm my credit card details were forwarded by MONARCH AIR for a recent flight to Tenerife. I have tried to contact them on the above freephone number and they are six hours behind GMT. I shall also be contacting AMERICAN EXPRESS WHO ALLOWED THE £10 to be added to my account and MONARCH Airlines who must be in on the scam to allow details on their ONLINE booking form to be used by SHOPPERDISCOUNTS.CO.UK 0808 234 1539. If no refund given then I shall contact TRADING SRANDARDS but can't hold my breath with them in view of past experiances.0

I think its about time we started naming and shaming each company that is linked to this dodgy outfit. If we cant stop this company scamming our details (YES SCAMMING!) then we need to bring it to the attention of those that promote it.

OK the latest I have on SHOPPERSDISCOUNTS.co.uk. On phoning them again they were very obliging and cancelled my so called "membership" and will refund the £10 in the next ten days. I could have easily missed this charge as not just me uses this credit card and I am still of the opinion it is a scam and supprised a company like MONARCH are a party to it.0
