Hi - I'm new to MSE so forgive me if I mess up on board etiquette somehow!

    [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]

My husband borrowed my card last year to book a flight for himself with Flybe and somehow ended up clicking the Rewards First link...

... and now I've realised that they have been taking £14.95 from my account since last August - [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM].

I noticed the unfamiliar company name and same amount being deducted on a statement a few months ago, but as they didn't show on my direct debit list, assumed it was something I couldn't remember buying.

However, [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] they don't set up a direct debit, they instigate what's called 'recurring transaction' which means they automatically debit the money from your account each month, and this doesn't show on a direct debit list.

    [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]...!

Additionally, I wouldn't have been sent their 'welcome email' which apparently contains details of the costs, as presumably these were emailed to my husband (and it probably went into his junk folder).

    [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]
I've contacted Flybe to say how disappointed I was that they associate themselves with [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] this company.

My husband has emailed them asking for a cancellation and full refund - will let you know how I get on...

  • just got a £10 charge on bank statment for shopperdiscount.co.uk. this was done through buying from j d williams and clicking on a £15 discount voucher. they did cancel charge and are refunding the charge. be warned about what you click on, may not be so lucky in getting charges back next time.

Are they really setting up a subscription by just clicking on a coupon? When I did the same I entered my card details and it was pretty clear, at least if you bothered to read the smallish print, what was going on.

For the record I got my £15 cashback cheque in the end and have now cancelled the subscription online before the first month of charges.
  • An update to my earlier post: Rewards First are refusing to refund the money taken without permission from my bank account.

Can anyone suggest a response please? I read a post from Marleyboy which infers that they HAVE to make a full refund.

How do I make them do this please (is there special wording I have to use?)?

    Thanks...

Be sure to demand a full refund (all money taken WILL be repaid - by law!)

    It only takes two steps:

1-A phone call (2-3minute), confirm your email, name and address (and you'd like all your money back, as you didn't know that you signed up [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM).

2-Posting of the claim form. (which they email to you as a result of the phone call)

Note: Your cancellation ref number is in the email they send with the claim form.

  • Thanks all - have now been promised a full refund by Rewards First, due to my subsequent email. Fingers crossed.

Hi! Just wanted to share my experience with these crooks!
I noticed £10 coming out of my bank so called to find out who was taking it. Bank told me about SD&R and advised I call them as they have been taking payments since August 2009. £190 in total.

I called and spoke to a woman who right away knew I was calling to cancel.

After a lenghty discussion she cancelled my membership and agreed to refund the last 3 payments within the next 10 days. Not happy with this I demanded the rest of my money back.

I said it was all a con and I know they have to give me a full refund. The response was "If we were a con we wouldn't be here at this time of night taking calls"

    Fuming.

She has sent me a claim form to send back. I am going to post this back tomorrow. I'll let you know how I get on.

Posted off my claim form. Within a week the other £160 they took was refunded to my bank! Happy days!!!
  • hi guys, i just got done by these guys, they say they don't have to give me a refund as I was informed of their 'conditions'
    Any advise?
    Thanks
