I called my bank who said that they could send a notice to stop payment, but could not refund the money and this would take 31 days...so another payment would go through in this time. I asked if there was anything more I could do? they gave me the shoppersdiscount phone number, so i tried it, got through first time and was told that when I signed up for £15 off my next Premier Inn stay, (this was in response to an email from Premier Inns) I signed up for this.
Had I known the cost I would not have signed up, so they offered to close the account from today and take no more money. This I did and got a cancellation email straight away!!!
An underhanded way to extract money out of people, If you don't check your statements....start now!!!
Moral to this story...There ain't no such thing as a free lunch!!!!!!
Also email gemma.bowen@consumerfocus.org.uk if this happened to you in the last few months and guest.relations@premierinn.com0 -

Ticketmaster and Pizza Hut have accepted fines in the US but still partner with webloyalty in the UK.

Perhaps a representative of these 2 companies could explain what's different between what is now outlawed in the US and the partnership they have in the UK?0 -
I just realised today when looking at my credit card statement that I have had £10 per month taken off my account since August last year. It caught my eye this time because I knew I hadn't used this card for over a month, so shouldnt have had any transactions on it.
I phone SD and they said it stemmed from a Ticketmaster purchase I made. Similar story, I clicked on a "£15 off your next purchase" link and put in my email address.
He tried to say I had re-entered my card details but there is absolutely no way I did that.
However, he agreed to refund 3 payments and emailed me a form to fill in for further claims.
Interestingly, when I opened this form online, the heading in the page tab said "UNAUTHORIZED PAYMENT AFFADAVIT" - so they are admitting the payments are unauthorized!!
Only then did I google SD and found this. I have since emailed Ticketmaster too saying I was disgusted with this whole issue and would not be purchasing from them again. What has really surprised me though is how long this scam has been going - this thread alone started 3 years ago. Surely some authority can do something to stop this happening.
I thought I was pretty financially astute but I cant believe there was 8 payments from my credit card that I missed - I just assumed it was a legitimate mail order/internet purchase. How many people never even look at their statements and so are totally unaware of this ongoing scam? (not that I'm trying to absolve myself of responsibility here - I should have spotted it the very first month)
I shall have to wait now to see if I get my £80 back.0 -

Its strange how they don't seem to have PM'ed either myself or marleyboy.
Perhaps even the most enthusiastic of conmen realise that there are some people who they cannot hope to wear down with yet more propaganda.......0 -

I've just discovered i've been scammed by these people. Since september, £10 a month. I would NEVER have signed up to this. I think it might have been the ticketmaster site that got me.
I'm going to try and get it sorted through HSBC (who my card are through) but i have to ring back between 8 and 6. Is this worth it or will it be fruitless, should i try direct to them. I am determined to get my money back.0 -

Send this text to their email address and you will get all money back:
"Shopper Discounts & Rewards
I rang your customer services this morning as money has been taken out of my account without authorisation
I was told on the phone these payments have stemmed from a purchase made to insert company
I would like my account with you to be cancelled, all details removed from your system and also all monies taken to be refunded
I know that you have to refund me my money by law
If my account is not cancelled and all monies returned within 28 days I will be taking legal action against you"0
