Just make sure you work out how much it costs per meal/day to compare rather than just cost per 15kg as some some cheaper brands you end up feeding a higher quantity so it doesn't work out as cheap as you thought.

I feed my dogs on wainwrights salmon & potato which really suits them although i did work out that it would be cheaper to feed burns. Wainwrights has also gone up £3 recently.

Burgess do a sensitive in their supadog & well being range and appear quite reasonably priced http://www.burgesspetcare.co.uk/dogs/index.php?page=dogsHome. Skinners also do a sensitive range

Thanks one and all for your advice and suggestions. I'll have a proper look at the wainwright and autarky, although I think unless prices get really silly I might stick with JWB for now, and stock up on the cheaper deals while they are around. If I change and she does get ill again, she now has such a huge excess on the insurance that it would be a false economy otherwise.

Catkins, I accidentally bought the large kibble by mistake once, and although it supposedly makes them eat more slowly (or something) mine chomped her way through at speed then chucked up everywhere.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I really think the wagg sensitive may be worth a try, but good luck with whatever you go with. What sort of dog do you have btw?

An extremely expensive english bull terrier.
(Not expensive to buy, as from a rescue place, but she has had more illnesses since I've had her than all my previous dogs put together!) Pedigrees, dontcha just love 'em.

Never had a pedigree (always end up with mongrels!) but I do think EBTs are lovely looking dogs, something about that nose, and their sturdiness! although I have heard they are prone to a few problems - I bet she is worth it though!

    Hi,

I highly recommend Arden Grange for feeding your dog (I feed all 4 of mine on it). They give the personnal touch when you contact them and will recommend which food will suit your dog, will also send you samples for your dog to try.

    http://www.ardengrange.com/

Berriewood wholesale is a good place to buy dog food from and can actually be cheaper than buying from Arden direct, and looking at the site JWB is cheaper than you are currently buying it at.

    Hope this helps.

Second the arden grange. 15kgs lasts nearly three months here feeding an english cocker spaniel - and at around 30 quid for 15 kilos - works out pennies a meal

Ive been trying to research what dry dog food is best for my Bullmastiff puppy (he's 6 months old).

We started on Beta large breed which he got bored of, he's now on bakers complete for puppys however, i've heard that this is not too good for his as its full of colourings, sugar and bad stuff!

Now i'm just confused! I want to get him the best possible food but I don't know where to start!

Any ideas would be more than welcome!

    Thanks :o

If you want the best then you're best off looking at James Wellbeloved or John Burns. They both have good websites. Natural ingredients, nothing artificial etc.
