  • I note several dog and puppy owners recommend branded food - what are the non-branded options like? I've bought in a 2kg bag of Morrison's puppy food in readiness for Indy coming home in a few weeks, does anyone have experience of this food? I understand about not being able to swap her from food to food, but I assume it's going to be case of trial and error until we find something to suit her?

Also, because she's really cute and I'm a shameless picture !!!!!, here's Indy aged 3 weeks:

We feed our 15 month old lurcher on Wagg Harringtons kibble mixed with Tesco Preimum Supermeat. He's a rescue dog and was being fed on Wellbeloved kibble, which we continued to feed him to begin with, but he went off it and it was expensive. That's when we started mixing in meat, but he got bored of that too. Then we changed from Wellbeloved to Wagg and Wagg Harringtons. The plain Wagg (£9.55 per 15Kg) he was not keen on, but the Harringtons (£17.43 per 15Kg) suits him well.

He is a healthy, lively and happy dog.

I urge you all to take a look at this site:
    http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/
Its not completely independant, based mainly on opinion, but it is worth a look.
and read up a little about the companies that make pet foods.

Wagg only gets 1* over there.

Go easy on adding meat - to much protein for a dog can make them bounce of walls (as can the colours and additives in bakers)

I'm happy with our small (senior) dog's daily meal being 1 small bowl of Wagg (chicken & veg), then adding a small matchbox sized portion of chicken or beef cut up with fine scissors, all mixed together with a little warm/hot water.

I trust Wagg but like adding the extra bit of meat as then I know a bit of quality meat in her serving, and it makes the final dish smell nicer.

She seems to enjoy it a lot.. wagging tail as I prepare it, and a little light-footed skip by my feet as I'm putting her food dish down.
