I would recommend the Chappie complete...still cheap but my dog likes it much more than the Wagg...but she did eat the Wagg after it being in her bowl a while0

i don't know if this site has already been posted but it is packed with dog food reviews.
http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/
they seem to have very high standards too. All seems very scientific but their primary indicator is meat content. From the reviews i've looked at if meat isn't the primary ingredient it is simply not recommended - even if the other ingredients are of good quality. I checked out about a dozen of the brands i have always thought of as the better ones and none of them are in their recommended lists.
They also point out that in almost all ingredient lists the meat % listed on the pack includes water, which is removed when making dry dog food. So more often than not, when meat is listed as the primary ingredient, once you remove the water it drops down the list.
i am not endorsing the site. I only just found it tonight so don't know a lot about it.The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -
But not all collies are hyper they are just very intelligent dogs that need both mental and physical stimulation, same as many of the breeds low protein foods are aimed at.
My lad is now fed a higher protein content kibble and doing very well indeed. As for bouncing off walls - I go out two/three times a day and play games during the day - hes lying there happy as a sand boy in the lobby with the back door open totally knackered after 30 mins of ball
we don't feed burns but the trainer was trying to get us to - she also sold it
our collies are hyper if they don't get their walks and agility training. Our agility club stops from mid december to mid january and the dogs are a nightmare by the end of the break. It doesn't seem to make any difference replacing the time we would normally go to the agility training ground with other play/walks or training. Agility must keep them sane! we have a couple of jumps and a weeve that we can take down the park but it doesn't tax them enough to tire them. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0 -
I am a big fan of Wagg, I think it must have saved me hundreds of pounds over the years.
My last dog lived till about 16 on it and was happy and lively till she died in her sleep, she never went to the vet until her last year and was a little dynamo!
My current rescue dog is on Wagg worker and loves it, and is in super condition, with the shiniest coat going, as is my mums newish rescue, who was skinny and dry coated when she arrived (she went to the vets last week and he commented on how fantastically fit and lean she now was, unlike many dogs he sees!).
It has food grade meat, cereals (which I can't see a problem with unless your dog has allergies) and no artificial colours. They also do not engage in cruel animal texting, unlike the very expensive Iams, and their food is made in north yorkshire and packed in recyclable bags! www.waggfoods.co.uk
As far as I am concened, its all good - and I can afford it and afford to insure the dog too without it being too much of a stretch. If it didnt suit her I would gladly find the money to pay more, but she does so well on it, and my last dog was a lively old lady till the end, that I really cannot see the point in paying more. (no offense to those that do, whatever suits your dog is the important thing!)0 -

That's a new one !0 -
We used to feed our dog on Wafcol for years because it was gluten free (he had alot of alergies) and it was pretty expensive. I do hear Wilko's are doing their own gluten free brand thats pretty cheap. We would give him james Wellbeloved treat biscuits too which he adored but again pretty pricey.
Our new puppy gets fed on Asdas own tinned puppy food and complete dry mix and he loves it. Price isnt bad either and the ingridients match up to some in the more expensive brands.
A tip for the shiny coat: try adding a garlic tablet and cod liver oil capsuale to your dogs meal. It will give them a great shiny coat, helps their joints as they age and the garlic stops them getting bit0 -

not sure what you mean - if you are surprised that this should be a concern try googling Iams and animal testing - what you will find is not at all what you would expect from a pet food company. (I was surprised too, I though the worst that could happen would be that dogs would test the food, which sounds like an ideal job for many dogs!)
Although Iams have refuted that they still engage in vivisection I am not so sure so would prefer not to buy from them.0 -
I think it was just a joke 'cos of the typoWhen I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0

you put 'cruel animal texting' as pboae pointed out
...... funnily enough I do buy Eukanuba food for my dog, I requested and received information from the organisation about the alleged vivisection and having read all that I was satisfied enough to carry on buying the food0 -
