have you looked at a more natural diet.......

....either Nature's menu which comes in foils or a raw diet. that way you know that your dog is getting no additives or preservatives, EU permitted or not, most are cancer causing.

both my dogs are on raw and have no smell, firmer, less stools, are calmer and have clean teeth.

    its cheaper to feed too.

I feed autarky to the golden retriever who lives with us 6 months of the year - he has colitis and skin allergies and does absolutely fine on it. The akitas who can be prone to skin issues if the food is wrong absolutely love it too.

At half the price of JW then I would seriously consider having a look at it! We started out with JW, then went to own brand gluten free but when that went up by £5 a bag one week, we decided to look around and found that autarky was out again.

Burns mini bites are suitable for puppies. Burns isn't just suitable for large breeds - my dog Tilly does great on it and she's a Jack Russell, only about 7kg. It's a good quality food, you don't feed so much as other brands as it's better quality, and consequently you gets less waste (ie poo)! They've got a good website, and are also very helpful if you call or email them.

now im thoroughly confused! The reason i asked is that i rang yesterday for some samples for a 10month old which she said would come under puppy and she sent me the Canine Extra and Hihg energy which said for puppies of larger breeds- no samples of the mini bites???

    Bottom of that page.

Mini Bites = any pup (and small adults)

    BUT

Hi energy lamb = "a complete food for large breed puppies"

    AND

Although it doesn't say there that it's good for large breed pups, Canine Extra has the same higher protein levels as that Hi energy lamb.

Basically, go with what their nutritional line say. Our lab preferred the Canine Extra to the lamb, but she loves chicken.

EDIT IIRC they recommend the mini bites for labs up until ~6m, but I may be wrong there as we were on Beta at that time.
  • hi, I don't know if this helps but I get my puppy JWB from vetuk.co.uk and it comes in at £32.67 for 15kg and and £32.99 for adult dog, if you have a "UK food containing order" for over £30.00 it is free delivery by 48hr courier (signature requried)
This is the cheapest i have found and with free delivery it can't be bad!
    Love a charity shop bargain
