same topic on your thread: my vets gave me a free bag of a new product from Hills which is on a promotion of 1 free bag per customer - Hills J/d dry food for older pets with arthritis. It's a decent sized bag (1.5kgs I think). HTHs someone.

Just been to replenish my supplies of James Wellbeloved and it's gone up £3 a bag in less than 2 months, making a 15kg bag now just under £39.
    This usually lasts 5-6 weeks.
I'm reluctant to swap to anything else, as it suits her assorted allegies and colitis. I used to use less dry food and top up with scraps, but since the colitis ( I haven't been able to work out which food triggers it, if any) that's a no-no. Aside from this, I have neither the time or the inclination to use a barf type diet.
I've looked at internet prices before, and once delivery is added on it usually works out more expensive than buying it from my local independent supplier ( who says that at the moment everythings going up, anyway.)
Is there anything cheaper than JWB that's just as good for sensitive doggies, or does anyone have any other suggestions before my poor pooch ends up a shadow of her former self?
Although I just weighed her, and being a fraction more shadow like wouldn't hurt. :rotfl:

JWB is excellent for food allergies / intolerances because of some of the unusual combinations it uses. The only other similar mainstream range that we suggest is Wafcol which is corn or potato based. However, with global increases in food prices, all pet foods will be going up in price at the moment so not much that you can do. I think if JWB agrees so well with your dog, then stick to it

I just stocked up on JWB at Pets at Home online, the little bags are on 3 for 2 which makes it £2.34 a kg or equivalent of £33.45 per 15kg bag. It's free delivery if you spend over £50 so you'd need to buy 12 to get free delivery, they had quite long dates on when I ordered though. The offer's also on in the stores.

I found JWB the best thing for my ckcs when he kept getting bad tum and itchy skin.

I fed my kittens (now grown up cats) JWB for a short while but switched to the Pets at Home own brand premium dry - the ingredients are virtually identical to JWB but it's much cheaper and as an added bonus they usually have it on BOGOF at Bank Holidays so I stock up then.

The dog version is £32 for a 15kg bag and it seems at the moment that the 15kg bags have 3kg extra free. They normally have small bags of free samples at the front of the shop for you to try and it also has a 100% money back guarantee so if your dog doesn't like it/get on with it then they will give you a full refund!

Here's the info for the dog version from the PAH website... Not sure how it compares to the dog JWB as I haven't got a dog so never looked at the ingredients!

My mutts 10 - not sure if that makes any difference, as I'd have thought if the dogs otherwise healthy and active, there's no need to go onto "senior" foods.
I'll compare ingredients when I get home. Thanks for the info.

They do a senior version, large breed version, small breed version, puppy version and a light version - in different flavours too!

It's quite a good website in that you get all the 'blurb' that is on the actual packets and the full ingredients list for each product.

spooky, am I right in thinking the own version is called "wainwrights"?

I swapped over from JWB about 6 months ago, I have a westie who suffers with itchy ears on standard dog food. Anyway, we changed to wainwrights which Im almost certain is own brand and my dogs love it. No sign of any ear problems and its cheaper :)

    Don't think so...

I use the cat one (haven't got a dog!) which looks like this...

The dog version (with ingredients I listed above) looks like this...

They so sell the 'Wainwrights' that you are talking about though, just looked online and it's even cheaper at £28.99 for 15kg. Worth the OP comparing ingredients on that too by the sounds of it.
