Ok, the difference between the 2 is minimal...

    James:
Rice, Turkey Meat Meal, Oats, Whole Linseed, Turkey Gravy, Turkey Fat, Sugar Beet Pulp, Alfalfa, Natural Seaweed, Sodium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, D,L-Methionine, Lysine Hydrochloride, Threonine, Jwb Special Ingredients.

Love the "special ingredients" cop out! Could be anything.

    Wainwrights:
Rice, Turkey Meat Meal, Oats, Whole Linseed, Turkey Gravy, Turkey Fat, Sugar Beet Pulp, Alfalfa, Natural Seaweed, Sodium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, D,L-Methionine, Lysine Hydrochloride, Threonine, Jwb Special Ingredients.

As I said, I substituted this for JWB and had no problems. May be worth trying a small bag as it is a heck of a lot cheaper!

Just thought i would add what i have recently been recommended due to having found unwanted items in my regular dog food!!

A few people on here have suggested a food called Autarky which there is a website for https://www.autarky-foods.com Its made with human grade chicken etc and uses herbs etc. Have a look, it sounds very good. I have again been today to another pet shop to see if i can get hold of a smallish bag of this to see if my dog likes it as i would rather not have a 15kg bag sitting around that he wont eat.

I have rang around and the price is between £14 and £17.50 for a 15kg bag which i think is very good. People have used it with dogs that have various problems and it suits them fine. I would link to my thread that i made where the people have made the recommendations but not sure how to do it. If you look in the pet thread though and look for the title 'Yuk hair, bristle etc in dog food' (something like that anyway) and you will see what people have used it and what they said about it.

I feed my 13 year-old Lab on Autarky Mature-Lite ( it used to be called Autumn) and she has always enjoyed it. She has sensitive skin, but no digestive problems, so I don't have any experience of it's suitability for dogs with funny tummies!

The Autarky website advertises 2.5kg bags for £4.50 (which works out very expensive especially when you add postage), but I've never actually seen them in a store - I buy mine at Jollye's.

I would point out that the Mature Lite has quite a big triangular kibble and may not be suitable for small breeds unless it is served soaked - and it is very hard and takes ages to soak up any liquid.

I buy 15kg bags of James Wellbeloved from pet-supermarket.co.uk. I have just bought 2 bags which should have been £29 each with no delivery charge. That is already cheap but they also sent me a code which gave me another £3 off. They usually deliver in about 2 days. A bag lasts my dog about 6-8 weeks and I have been stocking up. At present I have 4 bags!!!

I've just looked, and they're showing up as £43.49 a bag?

Hi. I have a GSD who has had colitis and seems to be allergic to many things. Have tried many different brands and i have found that wainrights sensitive salmon and potato is brilliant for my pooch. He hasnt had any more upset tummies and has put on quite abit of weight. Wainright also does trays of wet food which I buy 4 per week and just mix half a tray in with the dry to make it more tasty (my dog is also a fussy eater). This brand is much cheaper than even pets at home own brand. hope this is of help.

Elsien, have just checked their website and they are selling the adult large breed turkey and rice at £31.99 if you buy more than 1 bag. I don't know if your dog is a large breed or not!

Looks like I bought at the right time! Do keep checking their site as they do often have offers on JWB and also often have money off vouchers.

I must admit I have thought about changing my boy's food because it keeps going up so much but so many foods have affected him with different problems i.e. scratching, being hyper or upset tummy. JWB just suits him.

Have you seen or heard of Dr Johns? That is very cheap - about £8 for a 15kg sack and is meant to be good. I read loads on the internet about foods and JWB and Dr Johns both got very good reports. It is quite difficult to get it where I live but if JWB gets much more expensive I will consider doing a journey to buy Dr Johns and probably buy a few sacks at once.
