  • Thats another cupboard done, managed to complete the task while my burger was cooking in the GF, so just had nice lunch and will tackle a double food cupboard next, then thats one half of kitchen done!

DD1 just phoned she wants to pop round this afternoon but she is as lazy as DD2 she will just sit there watching me puff and pant but I'm determined she will not slow me down, I will just sit her at the completed end of the kitchen lol

    Afternoon al

Snow's coming down thick and fast again - looks soooo pretty. :j It won't last but I do love snow.

Got another Freecycle item today - an esspresso coffee machine - DH has just taken it to bits, descaled it and cleaned it all and made some gorgeous cappucino - managed to find the manual online so have saved a copy of that for future reference.

Yesterdays Freecycle items have all been put to good use today, picked up the stuff to make our first batch of yougert - that's now sitting there "culturing" away to itself, used the mincer on yesterdays left over beef and made some of it up into a beef sandwich paste with mayo and mustard - was delish.

Making fresh pasta tonight with cauli and broccoli cheese and bacon, can't wait.

Hope you're all having a great bank holiday.

  • There wasn't a great deal of old food stuff in the cupboard which surprised me but the oldest thing I found was a packet of breadcrumbs with a use by date of NOV 02

Afternoon all and welcome back REDRUBY - did you see me wave back?

Well, I did one row of knitting after lunch then fell asleep, then made a cuppa and started watching Dirty Dancing that I have had recorded for ages. No point DH watching it with me because he'll make fun of it all the way through! Anyway, I have watched about half of it so I thought I'd better get a few more chores done and watch the rest later.

It has been spitting with rain all day but I think it has stopped for a while and the sky is a sort of feeble blue and grey. I know the sun is up there somewhere but can't get through the clouds.

Apart from a busy morning on the domestic front, I've had quite a lazy day really. The beauty of a bank holiday is that you can just potter around and not feel too guilty about it. Well, that's my theory anyway! I've finished the paperwork I wanted to get done today but not done the ironing - I couldn't be bothered!

Well, I'm going to have a cup of tea now so will call in later.

Haven't really had a chance to keep an eye on you today. The joiner has been here and I almost have a floor (just beading to go on tomorrow)! He starts the doors tomorrow. I feel now everything is starting to pull together. Any ideas as to what is best to keep laminate flooring clean? Do you use a mop or one of those waxed duster type mops I have seen?

Just had quite a severe snow shower but it hasn't lain.

Hope to catch up with you all properly later.

Love and hugs to all but especially Smoky and family.

PS Was watching silly daytime tv and came across one of the channels which sells stuff. Has anyone bought one of those Penguin steamers or similar and do you think they are any good?

Yes taplady, it's the French film (subtitled) with Kristin Scott Thomas and Francois Cluzet. I was sooooo looking forward to it but the disc was too badly damaged (it kept jumping back to the start - I've now seen that three times so can FF when I eventually get a watchable copy. :D ) It certainly beats Channel 5's offering. It must be Easter - they're showing Ben Hur! :rotfl:
anniestar :hello: Glad you're feeling brighter today.
redruby Glad you have a lovely time.

Don't feel like doing too much now so think I will have a good look through all the DVDs and pick something slushy or funny - When Harry Met Sally, French Kiss, Sleepless in Seattle, Groundhog Day, Fargo, My Cousin Vinny - what to choose, what to choose.

GrannyBroon I have a steam cleaner (got it from ebay after seeing it on a shopping channel) and I love mine. Has saved me loads of money.
Made the blueberry and riccotta pancakes. Dead easy and very nice. It was nice to get back into the kitchen again to be honest. DH is doing tea though:rotfl:
Can't believe how cold it is. Glad we are staying in.
Anyway, take care, stay warm and have a nice afternoon. Ann XXX

    Hi annie

Thanks for that. It certainly seems very versatile and looks good for blasting the toilet, shower blind etc from time to time! Or am I a sucker for the sales talk on TV???????? I generally don't use much these days in the way of named cleaning stuff so I think this along with my trusty Stardrops, bicarb, vinegar and microfibre cloth might be a timesaver!

    Will check out eBay too.
