  • Thanks to pricefighter and bbb_uk for their help.Phoned BT who were excellent and in addition to telling me that I do not need to worry, I must contact JDS by phone but even if no luck, call them (BT) back the day before the change was scheduled for and they can cancel it for me. Also.... as I am staying with them they offered to set up TPS to stop my calls being diverted without my knowledge and agreement and as I said yes to that suggestion I have also been given free Caller id - somethiong I was never prepared to pay for. Me's a happy bunny. Will stick to 1899 or similar as a manual override and breathe a sigh of relief for now.

    They do free Caller ID & TPS (Telephone Preference Service) anyhow under BT Privacy. You can still have these when using a CPS carrier like JDS, TalkTalk, OneTel, etc.

    Also, TPS is meant to stop the nuisance, un-announced sales type calls. It's not really guaranteed to stop these calls and is definitely not guaranteed to stop CPS companies from asking BT to take over your calls for you.
  • I'm signed up to planet talk on 25th October. Hopefully I won't have made a mistake. Think I'm gonna route my dialler to 1899 daytime calls and planet talk for evening and weekend calls. Easy enough??

    I applied on-line to JDS for their Lite Saver tariff on the 22nd September 05. After
    3 follow up emails I finally received an email response from JDS, Customer Services, yesterday.

    Unfortunately, JDS state that they have “Lost” my details and asked for additional information. For some reason they think my current CPS is One.Tel. It’s not,
    it’s Talk Talk.

    I have emailed JDS today and instructed them not to begin the switching process until they have got their act together. I’ve submitted the details requested and asked for confirmation of same.

    I hope to get a response from JDS before Christmas!!

    I think a lot of people have had the same problem ,and to be honest I think this is the standard off customer service you can expect from JDS .
    I still have 10 months off free evening & weekend calls with talk talk ,but if I never got another free call I still wouldn't touch JDS . I used to use onetel , JDS sister company and there customer service was really bad .

    I don't think that's is true. It's wasn't standard before Centrica (who owns them and OneTel) decided to put them up for sale so now they are probably wondering if they'll be out of a job.

    I've emailed them before all this sale business started and they replied but since then they don't answer any emails at all (from what I've read). The only replies people get are automated replies.

    A few people have now cancelled their CPS with them and moved to another company.

    Planet Talk Primas Saver Option 2 are doing free evening & weekend geographical calls with no monthly fee as well. You have to sign-up to Planet Talk Primus Saver via USwitch.com as stated in their FAQ's here.

    JDS have a long thread here and gives advice (towards end of the thread) about cancelling your service with JDS (if you wanted) and moving to an alternative CPS provider.

    I got switched over yesterday - pity I didn't know as they have charge me 95p for what could have been a 3pm 1899 call. Looks like I'll be investing in the orchid dialers!

    Does any body know what time the FREE evening calls start and finish??
