I applied to change to JustDial Saver through Uswitch about 2 weeks ago. Had a confirmation from Uswitch but nothing at all from JustDial! Perhaps they're all on a team bonding trip!

    Dear Mr GTG,

I was delighted to receive your recent application to switch to Just-dial Saver.

As you may be aware, because the Just-dial service requires a BT line all applications have to be processed by BT first.

Unfortunately, BT has rejected your application on the following phone number **********. This could be for a number of reasons, the most common being:

Conflicting service (e.g. light user scheme)
    Incorrect postcode supplied
    Outbound calls barred

To enable your Just-dial application to be processed as quickly as possible, could you please contact our Customer Services team by email at mailto:care@justdialsaver.com so that we can identify the reason for the BT rejection.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Yours sincerely,

    The Just-dial Customer Service Team

I emailed them back about 4 days ago to inform them that non of the 3 common reasons for rejection applied to my number. No reply as yet.

I'm with Onetel at the moment, anyone any ideas?

So you would recommend Planet Talk then? My 3 months free trial of Option 2 is due to end in a couple of weeks so I need to make a decision soon. How long did the move take? How is there CS contacted and why do you say it's ace?

I'm not a customer of theirs (Planet Talk) but I would recommend Planet Talk over JDS simply because if you have problems it appears JDS aren't answering any emails at all. The main difference between them the free evening & weekend calls are free upto 1 1/2 hours per call on Planet Talk and upto 2 hours per call on JDS. Any call lasting longer than this is chargable but of course you can always hang-up and dial again before your time is up. Basically, JDS gives you an extra 30mins per call before it becomes chargable.

If your calls individual calls don't generally last as long as 1 1/2 hours (90mins) or you don't mind having to disconnect and re-connect just before your time limit is up then Planet Talk is worth it. Plus you know you have a customer services should you need to contact them whereas JDS aren't answering their emails.

It generally takes about 14 days to swop over call providers. This is standard for all call operators simply because Ofcom have said that this is a cooling-off period should you change your mind within the time period you can cancel without any hassle.

I'm not sure how you contact their C/S. Chances are by email as the saving made by Planet Talk having an email c/s are then passed to you with regard to the free evening & weekend calls without a monthly fee. I could be wrong though. Planet Talk have a freephone number if you wish to call them so you could ask them before joining.

    Thanks for that.

Although my free Option 2 lasts until the 14th Nov, my billing date is around the 9th Nov. I think I would be best to change to Option 1 just before that and avoid the charge being put on for Option 2 which would then be refunded but 3 months later.

I'm wondering whether to wait a few days as there was talk of TalkTalk having a special offer next month?

I don't end to talk for as long as 90 minutes at a time so that would not be a problem.
  • You might as well wait until 1/11/05 until you see what the opposition are doing for next month.

Is there a connection fee to dial a UK evening landline number with Just Dial? I can't see any info on their website.

I guess they make money by people forgetting to dial 1280 to get through to BT?

S0 to dial 1899 in the day do I just dial eg 1280 1899 02071234567?
