I use an Orchid too, and there is no problem with the JDS service - it is a CPS service and picks up any calls that are not routed to 1899 18866 BT etc automatically.
I can only say that for the vast majority of my time with JDS (over 18 months now) there have not been problems and since the Lite package came in earlier this year I believe that most of my free calls have been just that - free!
I'll try and check with the fine tooth comb from now on, but I think there is the great danger of scorning an offer that has saved plenty of money over time for the odd 4p here or there?
I guess that if you want a major customer service prescence you have to be prepared to pay extra for it - there's still no such thing a a free lunch............or is there Martin!!!

The other two suppliers are https://www.Tele2.co.uk offer available to end of year at moment, and https://www.planet-talk.co.uk/saverproducts.aspx?source=saver (Primus Saver Opt 2).

I am not scorning the offer. The Customer Service does appear to be bad. They dont reply to e-mails.The info on the website is poor.People have been overcharged. Members have reported these facts in this and other threads, and on other websites.
So therefore i think my question of why this supplier? is a reasonable one.

I do however like you believe that their is no such thing as a free lunch,or even an off duty policeman. :D

  • Hmm may try planet talk then. Haven't risked it as i didn't want to pay paying connection fee.

    Hi Forum Members,

I was reading Martin's advice on Just-Dial and would like to swith. However, on Just-Dial's website I cannot find answers to these questions:

    1. Do they provide a 1571 voice-mail that can be access from another phone when travelling abroad (or in the UK) ?

    2. What are Just Dial's charges for calling non-geographic numbers ?

What about Primus ? Even though Martin recommends them, there don't seem to be any prices on their website.

    Thanks for your help.

1.You still keep your Bt line for incoming calls and your 1571 service.
2.Yes it would be nice to know JDS cost,s to call ngn numbers. Many people have e-mailed them but they dont appear to reply.Their sister company Onetel is dearer, so i guess they might be.You can however still put your ngn calls over Bt by dialling 1280 first.

Primus charge the same as BT for ngn calls.

You shouldn't have to - changing CPS makes no difference.
Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").

As per my post above – JDS are not responding to any of my emails.

This evening I checked the list of Direct Debits linked to my current account and a new one from Connect Telecom UK was added on the 04th October.

As I’ve also just changed my 18866 account to Direct Debit payments, can anybody confirm if Connect Telecom UK are JDS or 18866?

    Thanks

    It's Call18866.

This is at the bottom of your invoices:-
Payment is handled by Bibit and the name Bibit may appear on your bank/card statement. Depending on the issuing bank payments may also be shown as Connect Telecom. Service provided by: Finarea SA, Viale Carlo Cattaneo 1, 6900 Lugano, Switzerland.

    Thanks bbb-uk.

I was kinda hoping it would be JDS. At least I’d have known that my application was being processed.
