Problem with a Buyer

I only accept paypal and no other form of payment.

A prospective Buyer begged me to let her pay by postal order and foolishly I did.

She won the item on 15th March late at night. She says she posted the postal order to me on 17th. I haven't received it.

Have emailed her and got no response - but I do understand that it is Easter.

There was only her one bid on the item. I want to relist it asap

Do I wait until Tuesday? Do I open an Unpaid Item Dispute and risk a neg?

i would wait until tuesday and if there is no postal order i would start an UID
  • That sounds like a good plan. Will do that, just in case she has posted on Thursday or Saturday.

    Thanks!
  • The Buyer has finally responded to my emails telling me that I am being nasty and unreasonable not allowing her time to pay!!

She said that the postal order was posted last Monday. It was due to be paid for by Saturday.

That if I open an Unpaid Item Dispute she will open an Item Not Received Dispute.

I don't want to sell to this idiot. Even if the postal order is received it is going to be torn up and put into the bin.

Have relisted the item this morning. No more special favours allowing people to pay by postal order, it will be paypal only from now on and no exceptions.

I do still offer cheques and postal orders on some of my auctions..but on the rare occasions people choose that payment method over paypal I do seem to hit a lot of snags. I routinely wait 10 days for cheques..and even before I get them banked the 'have you sent it yet' emails arrive.

On the free listing weekend I sold huge amounts of odd things, Around 80% of items were paid for immediately by paypal (which is much less than my usual 99.99% rate), shipped the next morning and feedback has already been left both ways, a few other paypal payments came in within 48 hours and again those items have been shipped. However at least seven items are still outstanding and nPBs will be started today to hurry the payments up, of those 7 items three people actually contacted me to say cheques were being sent and one responded to my email on day 6 saying that they will send a postal order as soon as the Post office opens after Easter (which will be 10 days from auction end) and assuming they can get there in the lunch hour.

I've also had one 'where's my item' email but that buyer is not responding to my emails asking how they paid.

If people want to use cheques or postal orders why aren't they more geared up to actually post the blasted things instead of delaying them for days or even weeks?

    Well exactly!
  • The Buyer has responded to the Unpaid Item Dispute which I have now closed and a strike has been given to the Buyer.

Can she still leave me feedback for the transaction?

i think as they responded yes
  • Yesterday Ebay removed the Unpaid Item Strike from the Buyer's account - she was quick to send me the email confirmation. She had obviously given them the postal order number. Ebay had not checked to see if the postal order had been cashed, though, as it takes a couple of weeks for them to do that - I asked at the Post Office yesterday.

I phoned ebay last night and asked why, when I had not had the postal order never mind the payment, had the Unpaid Item Strike been removed?

They didn't know the answer to that one.

So now I am in a position that the Buyer will open an Item Not Received Dispute whenever she is able to do so and I can't do anything about it.

Never ever again will anyone be ever allowed to pay me by postal order.

Aw shucks!!! I negged a NPB yesterday thinking I was safe from a retaliatory neg!!! Blast!! He did respond, but it was all lies. He said he was away on holiday and didn't want anything delivered while away - also was allegedly having Paypal probs (I accept all forms of payment). It was funny that despite being on holiday - he left feedback for others, listed 4 new items for sale and bid on a few other bits 'n pieces. Obviously too busy to respond to any of my payment reminders or ask for a payment extension. He also bid on my item about 2 hours before auction end - must have been a very spontaneous holiday.

Oh well - at least he still got the NPB strike, and a seller negged him the day before me for the same reason - so he probably has 2 strikes this week.
