meant to say maybe Benthosboy is busy being the Easter weekend or hopefully he has joined the Wooligans and is knitting away there0 -
Morning all, woke up to slush which has now melted but we keep having snow flurries. Hope it doesn't settle, we have a two hour drive tomorrow to my mum's.
Not much news from Flitter Towers, really. I made two dozen hot cross buns yesterday which seemed very well received (still have loads left to toast and maybe make that Jamie Oliver recipe) - I've made a note to add more spices next year since they don't seem spicy enough to me.
Today I have to make Delia's sticky toffee puddings and Nigella's easy cheesecake to take with us tomorrow. DS21 will help, he loves cooking and he's been an absolute star since he's been home (a whole week!), he's been so helpful round the house. I can't get used to it, normally I have to do everything myself, usually twice because once I get something clean, someone else comes along and messes it up again  .
Am fed up with OH who has spent his entire weekend working on his laptop, which means I can't do anything 'noisy' round the house like vacuuming, or even talking. I have loads of sewing stuff I want to cut out too but he's taken up residence on the dining room table so no chance.
Have a lovely Easter Saturday everyone. Hugs to Smokey and her family and to PenPin, JackieO and all others feeling unwell or sad.

Hello everyone:hello:
Hugs to all those who are poorly or just need a hug.
Smoky - hope you and your children are coping, thinking of you all.
Well it's a bit grim here, cold, windy and with the odd snow and hail shower - definitely a day for staying in.
Managed to finish painting the hall yesterday at about 7.00pm, so now I've got to re-assemble its contents. We have 3 big bookcases full of books usually in there, at the moment the books are piled all round the living room, so that's my mornings work to sort it all out, need to get out of my dressing gown first though!
Hope everyone has a good day and stays warm!0 -
Morning everyone.
Hope LittleAussielad had a wonderful day. Here's a special cake just for him.
Pink.... Please send DD to stay with Auntie Haribo. I'll soon sort her out.
Nothing much planned for today. Outlaws are coming for lunch tommorrow and I'm making a fish pie for that so need to go down the pier for some shellfish. Will make a bannoffee to, ready to assemble tommorrow.
Then we need to finish doing some :easter_os and I will resist doing :EasterBun to the Easter Bunny's stash.
Weather is changeable so I won't risk drying any laundry outside and other than that, not much else planned.
Have a good day everyone. Special thoughts to smoky and the children. xxx0 -
Morning!
not posted for ages on here but thought id pop back in for a nosy....
Been up since 8am only had about 4 hours sleep thanks to a mixture of toothache and a very active baby bump! Last night i was in agony as ive snapped off a large piece of tooth and exposed a nerve.. paracetamol isnt working and being 36 weeks pregnant means no-one will give me anything stronger! In the end OH went to the emergency chemist and they gave him this temporary filling paste for me so i had to fill my own tooth - its sorta worked a bit - but still need to take paracetamol and they are only working for about 2 hours so for the next 2 hours im in agony again till i can take more !!

Anyway OH is still in bed...hes absolutelty exhausted.. so dont mind and im enjoying the peace!! First load of washing is done, just 2 more to go.... just debating whether or not to hang it out on line or not as front of the house is bright sunshine and blue sky... back of the house is big grey clouds?
Plan for the day is to potter round the house and do little jobs not least because ive not got any dry clean clothes that fit so a public appearance is out the question!
:rotfl:
OH will be popping the hopsital later to visit his poor Dad who is very ill and was rushed in last sunday night. Weve both been visiting most days.... i wont go today though as i can only stand small amounts of seeing him ill. Really upsets me as i adore him and i also hate seeing my strong-non-emotional-ex-marine OH go to pieces whenever he leaves after visiting
May ask OH to pick up some bread on his way back as i think its the only thing I need from the shop?! Will make some jelly later as need food that i can eat without my tooth aching! Might make some fairy cakes too.. as OH loves them - being a big kid at 31! :rotfl: Hopefully bring a small smile to his face!
Anyway off to sort out the next load of washing and have a quick tidy in the living room before tackling the bathroom and kitchen! My dad did some plastering for me yesterday and so now theres plaster everywhere especially all over the sinks and taps so they all need a good scrub!
Have a good day everyone :hello:0 -

Morning all, just got up, we slept in after watching Taggart last night.
:grouphug: if you need one :grouphug:
No snow here as yet, although we did have a little sprinkle a few minutes ago. According to the forecast we are due a load tonight.....hey ho its Easter...................
Moiliere I am glad you sensed my frustration yesterday...............thankfully I have decided to have a day off today and not do any sewing. I am going to 'attempt' to mark out some wholecloth cushion covers instead!!!
Liver and bacon tonight, with orange jelly to follow, chicken for tomorrow so better take it out of the freezer..............
OH seems to be welded to his computer just now, he drives me mad when he keeps reading bits from the on-line newspapers out, makes me loose my thread..........I have to back track and try and remember what I was doing/thinking and pick up where I left off.
I have a bid in on ebay for a plant stand to use for the lamp which sits behind OH's chair, its rather nice and local too, we have to pick it up if I manage to win it.
Antique pine, think its ducal so should be quite sturdy. The auction closes about 2pm so will be on tenderhooks till then. I have tried a few times, was beaten to the last one by 50p!!!
Right offsky..............a:coffee: awaits...................
Oh Dogrose I have one of those too, he drives me mad at times, every little ache or pain is the end of the world and he stuffs paracetamol down his neck like sweeties........I am sure at some point his liver will pack in.............and like you the time will come when he is really ill and no one will take the slightest notice. I know his mother is to blame, she kept him in bed for 2 years when he had rheumatic fever, he had to learn to walk again!!!!!!!!!!!!Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
thanks for all your good wishes for mr dogrose..but dont encourage him!!!
csarina - he wont take painkillers because "they dont work!" Still sore apparently but he is able to walk without whinging this morning, so fingers crossed he doesnt have a relapse!! maybe he was a bit premature with his medical retirment plans afterall!
had a wee strop too because he said I was paying more attention to the dog's sore paw!! I think more of the dog than him,.....now let me think!!x x x0 -

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Thanks Donny-Gal, the mother in me was beginning to worry but you're probably right!
Happy Bithday AUSSIE'S DGD - I wish I was 3 years old sometimes!
(((Hugs))) to all the wounded husbands and all of you who have lurgies and bugs.
CSARINA - I'm glad you're taking the day off; sometimes, however much you love doing something, you do need a break. I'm sorry but all three of you made me smile because I knew how you were feeling!
Well, I've been out and bought some lovely chestnut coloured wool for the squares, had a very quick look in a charity shop and bought a beautiful necklace that I shall give my Mum plus a lovely Christmas embroidery kit that was only 50p (I don't know where I think I'm going to get the time to do that!), went to the gym and really enjoyed it because they played a lot of old Four Tops stuff (ramped up, of course, to get the beat) and I had a fine old time! The music really does make a difference. I definitely shall not be going out again today, if I can help it. It's far too cold although quite bright at the moment.
Anyway, I have just put the ironing board up so I should show willing - there's not too much because my NY's resolution to keep the ironing pile down is still working!
I'll see you all later.

morning all - well probably afternoon by the time I've finsihed with this.
lovely morning with dgs but isn't everything slooooooooow with a 3yo. we have only managed to have a bath, get dressed, have breakfast and tip dd11's connect 4 all over the floor. i think baths from now on will have to involve a swimmy cossie as dgs was fascinated with nana's boobies.
Off to feed the ducks - catch up properly laterI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080
