Id be interested to know why she approached you also as they dont just approach you for no reason
My son was stopped under the prevention of terrorism act.
They just pulled him over and got him to get out of the car, and they just checked it all over, then let him go on his way. 0 -
Basically at 3.00am on 21st March. on a main road. I behaved respectifuly towards the officers. First 1 car pulled up then they called 3 more. So all together there were 4 cars.
Thanks for the info James, though another question I'm afraid. Why were the extra Police called for and what were they checking you for?
I would imagine you'll be ok, but prepare to have a few anxious days ahead while you wait to see if you do hear from them or not. Not an easy time I know, but best to learn the lesson now than for it to be for something really serious.

We had been stopped because their was another corsa car that had been speeding, and because we had the same car and model they thought it was us. they searched the whole car and even me and my friend. but they didnt find nothing at all.and we told them that wernt uss, and i even said check the cameras.... if u dnt believe us
but i dont know why the other police were called, probabaly incase of back up.Why are we dying to live when we are living to die?

Are you black or asian perharps
Seriously something not right here though, the police do not call 4 cars for a routine traffic stop0 -
the prevention of terrorism act can be a bit scary - obviously its there for the general benefit of all - saving life/preventing death, but a chap I worked with was stopped in london by 3 authority vehicles and armed officers - said its the worst experience of his life well shook him up.
In relation to the original post people get let off for all sorts of things - a friends brother was stopped with no insurance and a provisional licence so really should have got an IN10 & LC20, howver when it went to court he got VERY lucky, the judge simply said he didnt want to see him again and that as he was young he hoped he would learn from his mistake and gave him nothing:eek:0 -
By the sound of it - searching you, your friend and the vehicle, having back-up arrive etc - they were looking for a similar vehicle for something far more serious and related to crime rather than speeding.
Having satisfied themselves that you were not the people they were after and believing your account of what happened they exercised their discretion and dealt with your relatively minor offence by way of a warning to you and your friend.
If that isn't the case I can't understand why they wouldn't have issued you and your friend [permitting uninsured driver] with fixed penalty notices and/or HORT1s to produce all documents.
As they didn't do that or caution you and tell you you were being reported for the offences then I think you can rest easy, but as said before - learn a lesson from this.0 -
It sounds like you had a very lucky escape
However if you do hear from them get yourself over to

We have all done stupid things when young0 -
You have to be informed within 14 days of any prosecution.
IMO as you were not cautioned or provided with a HORT then that is not going to happen.0 -
Not true. Notice of Intended Prosecution applies only to certain offences and uninsured driving ain't one of them.
See THIS.
However I do agree with your conclusion.
Will their be anything coming through my post within 14 days?
When will they inform me of anything?
Thank you.Why are we dying to live when we are living to die?
