Hi,
My name is James. I would be greatful for any help regarding my situation. I am also sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section. Please do advise me where to post this and what to do with my situation.
Basicaly, i was in a friends car and i drove about 5 metres and pulled up to the side of the road. A police car infront of me stoped me, i had no insurance but i only wanted to move the car for my friend. I literally drove for 10 secs and then a police car pulled in front of me, I told them my excuse. They took my details down. However, they didnt give me a producer nor tell me to come to the police station within 7 days with my licence. I am afriad of loosing my licence as i have had it for only 6 months, and the police women told me i could get 6 points and £200 fine. At the end of the search, the police woman said to my friend, do not let him drive again, unless if he is insured. My friend was insured.
whats going to happen next...? I am confused.
the funny thing was they did not give me a HO/RT1 (Producer) nor told me to come police station within 7 days. They Took all my details (home address, name and contact numbers).
I know i have made a mistake by moving a friends car but i have learnt from this.
Any help will be appreciated
Thank you James.

Sounds like they saw the truth in your story and let you off this time. Count yourself lucky and learn from the experience. They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0

Hi James,
Someone else who knows more about it may tell you differently, we'll see what happens with other replies. However, it seems to me as though you might possibly have been extremely fortunate in getting away with your indiscretion which as you realise, could have cost you very dearly indeed! You should have been given an HO/RT1 and had to produce your documents in the 7 day period, but not being given one does seem as though the Police Woman might have noticed how sorry you were and treated the situation with leniency - in which case you should be thanking your lucky stars!
If you now ALWAYS stick to what you say in your last sentence <<"I know i have made a mistake by moving a friends car but i have learnt from this.">> then you will be alright and not lose points or money! In future though James, no matter what the distance....if it isn't within the law....don't risk it as it's never worth it!
All the best with keeping your licence clean and yourself and others safe!

I reckon you may still be charged, there seems little point in giving you a producer when you had admitted you werent insured
Id be interested to know why she approached you also as they dont just approach you for no reason0 -
If there was no documentation exchange can't the OP just blag that he was never there and someone else gave his details? They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0

Of course he can - that's probably only risking a 12 month stretch for attempting to pervert the course of justice to avoid a fine and points. Good call Broke Student, you'll go far! :rolleyes:Broke_Student wrote: »If there was no documentation exchange can't the OP just blag that he was never there and someone else gave his details?
I think they believed your story, took a lenient view and have let you off. Learn your lesson.0 -
