Sorry to hear your news Smoky- thinking of you and your family at this time.
Been doing gardening earlier, DH put all the glass in the greenhouse which was good. Just having quick clean and tidy up as we have people coming over later for chilli (Ginghams 3 bean chilli recipe) and a few drinks.
Cant think of anything else half interesting!
Hope everyone else is ok xx0 -
Hi Guys!
I just want to apologise for the negative post yesterday:o ....I will try harder to NOT moan so much...promise! I am feeling better today after my evening out with friends last night:D
2 washloads have been done and placed on the line as its sooooo blowy out there today. OH has a chicken stew in the SC as we had some diced chicken breast that needed using up, but we may just eat it tomorrow and freeze the rest. He used up the chicken, swede, carrots, manky spuds, onion and a sachet mix. Our fridge is looking quite bare:eek:
We have invited a friends DD (16) round for lunch/dinner on Sunday. She has moved out of home and is having a rough time of it...its the same family who's son has moved out also....she is quite loud but a lovely girl with a lot to say for herself....I suppose I am drawn to her as she reminds me of me at that age...knew everything etc etc:rolleyes: ...we are going to make a roast lamb dinner for her as she loves that and maybe have a chat with her to see if she needs any guidance academically (sp) or life choices. I dont like interferring (sp), but she is so young and i think shes great...regardless of what others say:D ....she wants to show me her latest piercings:eek:
:rotfl:
We have watched the 1st Harry Potter today and may watch the next one later. DD wants to watch the end of The Bone Collector as we only watched the first half the other week.
With so much going on lately, I had completely forgotten that we had booked a week away 2 weeks today and are going with friends staying in seperate lodgings. I am not prepared or anything which isnt like me. Luckily I keep a basic list of stuff needed and my faithful holiday mealplan.
OH bought a BluRay (sp) player this morning with money he has saved up and managed to get a good deal with several good films included. He is a pain with his electrical gadgets, but he doesnt ask for much else and he has saved the majority himself.
Also......................OH is officially a JAFFA as his test came back negative for swimming sperm:j :j :j :j :rotfl: :rotfl: ....he will kill me if he sees this post:o
Anyway, I am now rambling and again I apologise for that.
(((Smokey)))-Please see if your GP can give you something to help you sleep. It will only be temporary. OH, DD and myself all send our love to you all. You are constantly in our thoughts and prayers.
Hugs to everyone else...especially Twink, Donny-Gal and Jayward. I apreciate all your messages even though I dont reply to them all sometimes.

Afternoon everyone :hello:
Yes, I'm back sooner than I thought. We never made it to Lincoln. DH went to fill up at the petrol station. We got 8 miles up the motorway and suddenly DH's face went VERY VERY VERY white. After shouting at him to tell me what was wrong and him saying repeatedly "I've been very very stupid", I managed to wheedle it out of him that he'd put petrol in instead of diesel. He always complains that I take far too much with me in my handbag, but I think that he'll be eternally grateful that I had my AA membership card with me.Edited to add: not that I've been reminding him every half hour or anything. :rotfl:
Needless to say, we weren't the only people waiting in the garage to have the tank drained and sorted. We were the second of 4 today so far! :wall:
As for teaching, I'm all ready to hand in my notice after Easter. I'm afraid that I've given it three years and I'm fed up with the rudeness of children, head teachers and paperwork. I'm not overly sure what I'll do with my life, but probably go back into the food industry, from where I "came from" originally. Any ideas, please pop them on a postcard. At least I can do supply teaching in the meantime. There's quite a demand round here for it (primary), so it can at least pay a few bills. Added to the fact that we might move nearer to DH's work, so it gives us a bit more flexibility....Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
pennypincher--- As you know I am a sw, I work on an adult learning disabilty team. I have only been qualified a year and I only know the basics.
If you wanted to have the same carer to come in all the time, you could claim a direct payment from ss for this, then you choose who you want. You can't choose oh or relatives unforntuatley!
here the link http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/DG_10016128
I think your sw is c**p, I would not dare not go to a call, which is what she did! If she was lost, she should of phoned you and asked for directions. I reguarly get lost and if I think I am going to be late i just phone them. If I don't know where the call is, I deliberaty set off early, so if I get lost its ok.
She should not of made you feel like that, its not on:mad:
I have met some dreadful sw's and some fab ones, sounds like you got the rubbish one
If you are interested in asking for dp, ask for another sw to come round and talk it over. hope you get something sorted xxxx
Thanks Dorry!
I have DP's already. I am assessed as high need and have 10hrs but am thinking of cutting it down as OH is quite happy to help. Just a shame that he cant get paid for caring...he already receives Carers Allowance for me.
I am very lucky with what I receive but I find it quite difficult setting up the care for me as people let you down last minute and arent very reliable.
Thanks for the advice.

PENPIN - don't you dare apologise! You are NOT moaning and we love to hear from you. I know I am full of admiration for how you cope every day and never get tired of your posts. I'm so glad you are feeling better but, even on your most 'down' days, we want to hear from you. Have a great Easter.
BENTHOSBOY - where are you?
Well, I've almost finished my spare room and now have space and storage for all my crafty stuff - I'll finish it all off tomorrow. I've found things up there I didn't know I possessed. I have also finished, finally, the little doll I'm making for DGD (the non-chocolate lover in the family!) to have as an Easter present, so I can finally start my first square tonight!
Anyway, weather isn't up to much is it?
see you all later.

I agree with Mioliere - PenPin - don't apologise at all - being able to rant & let off steam here is what we do... (including me earlier...!)

Evening all
Smokey (((( )))))
I'm feeling incredibly fantastic & youthful, I've been seriously concerned lately about my health & stamina, I wasn't sure if I was just feeling my age or what. Well we've spent all day helping some friends move & I've was on the go all day from 8 this morning carrying stuff upstairs & down. My friend is 10 years younger than me & couldn't keep up with me, so I'm obviously not as decrepit as I thought. Silly I know, but I feel better about myself now.
We came away with 4 boxes of books & a food mixer, so that was good.
I don't know any social workers, but I work with teachers & the majority are amazing, they care so much about all the kids, whereas I just want to strangle the little B's.
Have a good evening everyone.
Hugs Hester

Evening all,
Had a very productive day today. Made Hot Cross Buns from Haribo's recipe, very nice they were too, so much for my damage limitation for my weigh in next week:o
Had lasagne for tea tonight which i prepared last night with some garlic bread which disappeared as if taken by a cloud of locusts:T
Everyone is stuffed to the gills - just the way I like it. The weather has turned nastier. Rain, Hail, wind. On the plus side we did see a rainbow earlier.
Hope you all have a good evening.

I have only just got back to you as my hard drive failed last week and my computer only up and running (just!) today. Have only backtracked to Smoky's posts and all I can say is my thoughts are so much with you and your children. The last couple of weeks have been horrific and I think I can say for everyone on here that we have been thinking about you all so much.
Your troubles totally put any silly troubles we have into the shade.
Love, hugs, and everything else and I am sure you will find the strength to pick up the pieces. You are a wonderful lady.
Love and hugs to Eric and perhaps it is best he is at peace now.
Love to everyone else and will try and catch up in the fullness of time.
