Hi all,
Am long time poster on mealplanning and have jumped ship to be with you all on OS as well, having followed your daily antics for months-hope that is ok? Have been trying to pluck up courage to join in for a while, as it seems to be the place I "belong", but it was smoky's postings recently that have really made me bite the bullet.
Smoky, does your GP know that you have lost Eric? You sound, not surprisingly, sleep deprived, and everything is so much more difficult when you are so exhausted. Can you ask him/her to visit you on Tuesday-maybe give you a few sleeping pills to help you through the next few days? That is quite accepted in circumstances like yours and is not a sign of weakness and won't knock you out or make you a zombie. ((((hugs)))).
Well, after having a snowy blizzard here about an hour ago, we have bright sunshine and what loooks like a spring day!! Better get a move on, have shopping, mucking out of the house (literally in case of DD17 room), and more surfing to do.....

Morning :hello:
((((smokybabe)))) - thanks for posting last night. Everybody is still here for you. I did want to make one more practical suggestion to you though - you say you're finding it really hard to sleep (which is totally understandable) despite dosing yourself with alcohol. I just wanted to suggest that you should probably see your doctor and talk to him/her about proper medication to help you sleep, because although alcohol will help you drop off, it makes you more likely to have poor quality/interrupted sleep - and goodness only knows you don't need anything to make it worse. If you could try and get the sleep deprivation sorted, at least you would help the way you are feeling physically :grouphug: (Edit: I cross-posted with cannylass who has said the same thing...)
About social workers - I think the trouble with them - or should I say, the trouble with people's perception of them - is that like every other profession there are good ones and bad ones, but unlike other professions, they are dealing with sensitive aspects of vulnerable people's lives, so the bad ones affect people deeply and give a bad name to the rest of them... and for the good ones, they're overworked enough as it is, and I take my hat off to anybody who's managing to do a job like that really well... ((((Hugs)))) to PP.
I have church this afternoon (choir at 2, service at 3) followed by tea and a hot cross bun, them am off to the Barbican to hear a performance of Bach's St Matthew Passion. It is something that I always try to get to on Good Friday evening.

Morning all........................(((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if you need one.
Smokey Thank you for posting last night.............I really do not know what to say...........except keep strong, I know at this stage you must be feeling very bereft, and not getting much sleep does not help.....maybe a quick visit to the Doctor might be in order................you know you have our support when ever you need it. You must have cried a million tears over the past weeks, but tears do help, it may not seem so just now.
Well we have had an exciting morning, the fire alarm went off just after 10am, so into be prepared mode, shoes on coats on the beds, computers packed into their cases....voices outside the door.......4 burley firemen....have you been spraying air freshner Mrs?????? My no....I do not use air freshner..........apparently someone (Mad Maureen?) had sprayed air freshner in the corridor and set off the alarm outside our door......There has been a smell in the corridor, but spraying air freshner is not the answer, open windows are better!!!!!!!!!
We had planned to to out and then changed our minds, its a very windy morning although the sun is out, so glad we changed our minds. Some one has been on the TV from the RAC she seems to think that the M1 runs past Lincoln, have they diverted the road overnight????????????
Some more sewing this afternoon. I have promised to take a ring pillow to the craft fair for orders, so need to do the embroidery on the silk............fancy doing it this afternoon whilst I cut out another bag for knitting this time.
We have nothing planned for the weekend............a visit to the lottie at some point apart from that nothing.
OH is emersed in bowls club stuff......oh yes we had a water meter put in last year, I read the meter this morning we have used 10 units since last November.....we were playing catch up from the leak at our old house, apparently we are over £40 in credit, so I have put the payment down by £10 a month to £8 which means out water bill for the year will be £96 as against almost £300 if we were not on the meter.......some saving..................
Right off to see whats for supper, quiche and salad I think, maybe a jacket spud..............Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
....The weather is pants anyway. For anyone who came down on holiday they are not going to have much of a weekend....

smokeybabe, have sent pm. :heart2:working hard at this thing called life0 -
Hi everyone - have just got back from a very windy food shopping session and I am so cold I thought I'd sit here with a coffee to get warm. What weather - we've had a bit of everything this morning. I didn't stay out long but I bumped into DIL in the Co-op and had a bit of a chinwag. She and DS1 had been to see The Cure in concert last night (rather them than me!) and didn't get back till 2 in the morning.
Welcome to CANNYLASS - glad you have joined us!
The Easter Bunny turned up at DSD's class in school yesterday and she was really impressed because he remembered that she doesn't like chocolate (strange child, we don't know where she gets that from!) and brought something else instead. so thank you, Easter Bunny!
Well, my hands are so cold I'm finding it difficult to type so I'm going to put the shopping away, a job I really detest.
Hope you are having a good Good Friday.

Squiggly-Diggly - don't take offence, as Rzl said there are good and bad in all jobs. In addition I think they are between and rock and a hard place at the moment with everyone wanting them to save money. However, politeness doesn't cost anything and as you said there is no excuse for not turning up on time and not calling.
Did I spot somewhere that you can batch made crumble and then either leave it in the fridge or freezer to use as and when?

Afternoon everyone
Had a fab time last night but I'm suffering this morning. Unfortunately I didnt make the last train so ended up getting a taxi at about 2am. Apparently I was babbling absolute rubbish but I dont remember that.
Plans for the day are to answer my freecycle posts and give the house a good tidy up. Later on I have Ashes to Ashes and House recoreded to catch up on.
Have a Good Friday everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -
hello all
the sun is shining here between wintry showers so i have made some soup and will do bread later
i have looked out my wool and needles and may put on shrek 3 and get started
hugs to Amie
Mioliere glad you dgs likes the hobnobs, havent tried them with chocolate yet but sounds yummy
Aussie i dont know what to say, all i have in bed are my two yes two hot water bottles
Smoky i would agree that you should see your dr about getting something to tide you over the funeral and yes as you say it is so unfair you had to lose Eric
one thing i will say is that you are facing a long and painful journey but please believe me when i say you will get through it and you will amaze yourself at the things you will achieve
the time will come when everyday gets that bit easier to bear and you will always treasure your memories of Eric
grief seems to be a passage that has to be worked through there is no way round it so shout when you are angry and weep when you need to
i only put this here as you say you are not up to reading your pms, you know how to get in touch if you need me, dont hesitate to xx
hugs to all xx0
