os GOOD FRIDAY

Morning all. And best wishes to smokybabe.
Had a bit of a rough and wild night last night. Rough in that I really struggled to sleep with all the infection and itching I still have. Wild in that the wind really whipped up a storm to the extent that the internet is a bit unstable this morning. I should be in work today - we don't get Good Friday - and I will pop in later. But as my throat is still infected, I won't be staying long. I only need to organise distribution of my magazine if it's there. And if it's not, then there's no point in me going in really, other than to tie up loose ends.
I drive up to the Yorkshire Dales tomorrow, all being well (weather, health, etc). I'm looking forward to some cleaner, fresher air. So any time at home will still be spent doing last minute pre-holiday chores. If I'm too ill, or if the weather they've promised us does come along, I may hole up here for the week instead, disconnect all communication and have a holiday anyway.
Hope everyone has a good Good Friday.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -
Good morning to everyone :hello:
(((hugs))) to all those that need them.
Many thanks for my birthday wishes the other day.DH cooked me steak, which was divine. We're spinning out my birthday week until the end of April when we go to London
It's now the Easter hols for me. Yesterday was a "training day" but our head had booked it as a "wellbeing day" and so we could attend a yoga session and then choose a treatment from either a chair massage, bowen technique (still not sure what this was) or facial reflexology. I had the facial reflexology which was quite excellent. We've now got to write down how we're going to continue with our "wellbeing journey". How about more wine?
This weekend is really quite action packed. DH and I are popping up to Lincoln to have lunch with one of my friends today. Tomorrow I'm in Milton Keynes at the theatre to see Equus. On Sunday, my mum has somehow persuaded me to volunteer at a cross country (horse) even. She's doing the commentating and so I think I might be timing. We normally have a big family Easter Sunday (by big I mean going to church and then having a family lunch), but my mum had volunteered for this event without realising that it was Easter. Different, at least. DH will probably spend it with his mum and dad.
Anyway, I think DH is making noises that mean I'm being lazy and I need to have a shower.

Morning all
hmmmm social workers - we had one when dd, then 14, got pregnant  she was hopeless but in her defence was a part time student and I think it was a bit much to expect her to deal with a complex child protection issue. We ended up with a massive list of complaints and she decided to close our case rather than deal with them. Fine by us as we had a lot of support from the school, the education welfare officer and a project for teen mums. Loads of times I took time off work and then she forgot to turn up or else called inter agency meetings and forgot to invite us. We got the impression that as far as she was concerned people with problems don't have jobs or lives and can sit around waiting for her to turn up ... or not
anyhoo - exoh stayed over last night so I'm cadging a lift to the diy shop as I don't fancy cycling 3 miles with paint strapped to the bike.
dd22 coming over for a couple of days - will be a bit of a wine fest as I don't see her that often. dgs3 is also over later so it will have to be a very moderate wine fest.
Smokey - big hugs to you and yoursI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -

Quiet day here, there are only three of us in so far and we are all hammering the paper work - not expecting many more to show up after my boss's "remember you don't work in a bank" e-mail yesterday as it proably provoked a minor mutiny.
I made Simnel cake last night using a Delia recipe - it looks darker than I thought it would, but I made the mistake of leaving it to cool in the oven, so it probably cooked a bit mre than it should. It still smells nice though. We're going to OH's boss's house on Easter Sunday, so if the cake tastes okay I'll make another one to take there as they won't have seen one before.
Have a good day all, love and hugs, celx:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Morning all - been out of the loop for a few weeks with 'the job that ate my life.' The insanity will continue next Tuesday so I'm going to make the most of the long weekend.
I've been watching the weather forecasts and muttering for a few days, but so far it's okay so much gardening will happen when it's not raining. We have no plans for the next 4 days, so I intend to pass them in a haze of digging and planting, housework, genealogy, cooking and catching up on sleep. Going to make a couple of stews in the crockpot, loaves and cakes for freezing; DH raved about a cherry sponge I threw together last weekend and actually wanted some in his lunchbox which is a minor miracle as he doesn't have a sweet tooth at all. The place is still easier to deal with in the aftermath of the declutter I did in January, but there's more to go and the kitchen is trashed as usual.
Have a nice day everyone, and Smoky I'm still praying for you and yours.0 -
Hello all. Nice and sunny here this morning although it's cold and windy outside.
Didn't get online yesterday as it was my aunt's funeral. Had to leave the house at 7.00 to get there by 10.30, luckily the traffic wasn't too bad on the way and we arrived early enough to have time to find a loo (!) and grab a quick coffee beforehand. All went off well, it was a lovely service (if such a thing exists) and although it was sad, it was nice meeting up with all my relatives whom I haven't seen for a while.
Unfortunately the traffic coming home was considerably worse and so it took hours but my poor sisters and mum were stuck on the M25 for three hours, so much worse for them
Have a splitting headache this morning, so am being kind to myself. Have a batch of Delia's hot cross buns in the BM, have washed two loads of towels and have bullied OH into looking at the broken DW which gave up the ghost on Wednesday evening. We're meeting up at mum's on Sunday for Easter so I have a couple of puddings to make, am going to do Nigella's easy cheesecake and Delia's sticky toffee puds which I think will travel OK in their little tins.
Hugs to Smokey.
Hugs to all those in need, especially PP, poor you, don't feel bad for being unwell!
Love to all, Happy Good Friday.

Hi everyone :hello:
i`ve not caught up with yesterdays thread yet but i promise i will later when there`s more time.
I seem to be getting behind with everything at the moment as i`m spending long hours at w**k.
I`m green with envy at everyone who is off for Easter cos i`ve got to work all of it and i`ll be off to w**k soon.wish we still got paid double time or even time and a half for being there though then it maybe wouldn`t seem quite so bad.
Never mind - chin up, i`ll have another cuppa and then start on the chores and have a nice hot bath before setting off.
Have a lovely Easter everyone.
(((((hugs))))) to Smokey and pen pin

Morning all,
Morning is passing in a haze of learning at home stuff with ds's 1&2. First load of washing is out. It is so windy outside and the hail storm has been and gone at the moment so thought i would risk it as it will prob dry before the next downpour. Just need to get it in when more hail threatens.
Breadmaker is on with hot cross bun dough. This time I WILL NOT bake it into a hot cross bun loaf:rotfl:
finished a patchwork cushion yesterday and put it on realy like it as I quilted hearts on it as well.
Dinner tonight is lasagne and possibly garlic bread - bm again on:rolleyes: Don't know how I managed before without it;) Baked another traybake last night this time it was the old fashioned cherry cake recipe from delia. It is very very nice. I have been eating waay too much lately and should now carry out damage limitation ready for my SW weigh in next week or I could get a shock:rotfl:
Think I've waffled on and bored you all enough now.
Hugs to Smoky & PP
Have a good break all those going away.
Have a lovely easter weekend to all
