    Good Morning All

    (((Smokey)))

Many Thanks for all your Birthday wishes yesterday - had a lovely relaxing day.

Feeling raring to go this morning luckily, loads of hw washing ironing & paperwork to do, think need to drop DD off somewhere later but she hasnt surfaced yet so no idea.

Just about to get chicken breasts out of the freezer for chicken wraps later. Also need to go and get some hot cross buns from the baker.

We arent having our school holidays yet - they are at the end of the month - hoping the weather improves by then.

Kyle - re your ear wax problem - have you anywhere local that does the Hopi Ear Candle ?? Its meant to relive ear wax along with stress, sinutis (sp) & loads of things - I am definately going to try it this year.

Off now for a quick surf.

    Have a great Good Friday.

    Morning all

Lie in this morning and DH took the dog out. He is currently getting the caravan ready for the off (DH not the dog) :D

I know we must be mad going away this weekend, but we are taking the caravan to our favourite site and leaving it there for the Summer, so will be able to go backwards and forwards whenever we like (work permitting).

Went into Matalan yesterday, and they are having a half price sale on certain items, so anyone who fancies a bit of shopping, it might be worth a look.

We are supposed to be back on Tuesday, but if the weather is good, we will stay all week, so won't be around for a while. Hope everyone is OK while we are away, and ((( hugs ))) to Smokey. Depending on the weather, I will either see you all on Wednesday, or the following Saturday :hello:

    Happy Easter everyone :easter_ba

    Morning all

It is freezing here and blowing a gale. Not raining yet so have hung the washing out. Awake at 06.50 again:mad: . It's the light, despite blackout curtains it just wakes me up.

SMOKEY hugs to you and thinking of you

PENPIN sorry the SW made you feel like c**p, they really do know how to put their foot in it sometimes.

HUGS to anyone else who wants one.

OH is cooking roast lamb today and has invited the whole world and his wife:mad: . Wouln't mind but I only catered for 5 when I bought veg and rhubarb.

Plan to day to look through my study guide and sort out references. Will also do my Tesco on-line shop and clean this pit!

    Have a good day all

    Good morning everyone,

Smoky - ((HUGS)) i wish i had the right words to say, but you and your family are in my thoughts in this difficult time xxx

Loraine and Anniestar - hope you will be feeling better soon.

PP - dont mention social workers to me, i look after a little girl with behaviour problems, and the social workers take no notice of anything said to them, look to save money over the welfare of the person in need, and assume that people will bend over backwards just to make it easier for them!! I could go on for hours on this subject!!! I hope things will be sorted for you and your family soon xx

Aussie - Loved House last night, must admit, i have found an American site that does episode recaps, so do have a little idea about what happens (i try to be good and not read all of it!!) we havnt met the new recruits yet, it ended with him telling them he is about to put them through 6 weeks of hell!!! Might be bending your ear in the next few weeks tho!!! Hope you have a lovely day with DGS.

    mrs mix :hello:
    Taplady :hello:
    Pooky :hello:

((HUGS)) and :hello: to everyone xxx

First day of my week off (second of school holidays!!) and my lovely DS brought me up a cuppa in bed this morning, ok, i had to ask him, but he did it!!!

No plans for today, being Good Friday, no washing will be done and as little cooking as possible - i will be 'heating' up bacon for lunch, and 'heating' up the traditional fish, for dinner tonight!!!

Im about to have my breakfast, will then do my clicks and then DD and i will snuggle up on the sofa and watch the second Lord of the Rings (watched number 1 last Sunday). A nice lazy day for us!!!

Hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Morning all.

Not been on for a bit as this past week has been so busy at work-it's that time of year again. Getting work out of some kids is like getting blood out of a stone, urgh.

Been struggling through with this bug, have had it over a week now and if I still have it Wed, I'll be off to the Dr as a colleague is still sick with it 3 weeks and some antibiotics later.

We're off to the tip today as OH sorted loads of the stuff in the spare room (of doom) out into rubbish bags and charity bags. Hopefully we can manage dropping some of the charity stuff off tomorrow and then on Sunday and Monday we can get cracking with the painting. We've found some stuff to Ebay too, OH wants to make some money out of some of his old childhood toys so that's good!

Have been trying to find a good joint of ham as we fancied having it this Sunday but the prices I've seen are shocking. I really wish I'd've bought it a couple of weeks ago and frozen it, but hey ho. So we are having chicken pie instead I think!!

Round here we have the long weekend, then are back for almost 2 weeks of school and then have the Spring holidays. I'm not complaining now, but am not sure how the next two weeks will pan out as I'm sure the kids will be super hyper mental!

Sending hugs to those who need/want

  • Morning all....

(((((hugs))))) to those who are not feeling well, hope you start to feel better soon.

And Smoky, I hope you can keep taking strength from your real & virtual friends when it's hard to get out of bed & face another day.

Feeling a bit down now I've caught up with last night's thread & these few posts.... I'm a student social worker & feel like perhaps I should depart these threads.....

I (and all my 40 classmates) would be devastated if we had made someone feel the way PenPin was made to feel. All the teaching we have if strongly focused around values, and respecting people, and "empowering" them (that term irritates me, but I agree with the principle in that you don't dictate to people). Yes, there are bad social workers - but there are also people in many other professions who are carp at their jobs too. It is a difficult balance, you are taught about the law & what services people "should" be entitled to etc, but then you get to work placements & the reality is that there are eligibility thresholds, and no money.

However, regardless of that PenPin, your social worker should have (1) phoned you straight away to say she was in your road, but could'nt find the house & could have been directed in (which is what I had to do on a visit the other week) and then (2) at least made an effort to listen to what YOU said you wanted, and what would help meet your needs. Tell her how she made you feel, or get in touch with her Practice Manager & have a word. I am not an expert in community care, but I can hunt about & find the relevant bits of law for you to quote... And your husband is also entitled to a Carer's ASsessment to meet his needs as well (or is that what it was??)

Sorry if this is a bit long & a bit of a (defensive) rant - it makes me cross that PenPin (and others) have been made to feel bad, but I suppose also that SW's always get slated.....

I shall go & bake bread now.....

    Happy Easter all!

Off to Legoland tomorrow courtesy of Tesco clubcard deals so got to sort out the stuff today! We're only staying for two nights but with a five year old and a baby, there's still no end of stuff to take!

I need to pack some butties for the journey, too, don't want to get ripped off with service station prices! :D

PS: To those of you going through rough times, hope there's a light at the end of the tunnel for you soon. :( xx

    Good Morning All
Despite my telling the cats and dog that I didn't have to get out of bed at 6:30 as it was a bank holiday they decided I did not want a lie in.
My parents are coming over for a visit today bearing Easter Eggs for the girls, (they used to give them to me before I started my family :( ). All three of my girls are eating their scrambled egg on toast and I'm ignoring the mess in the living room for another few minutes before doing a quick tidy up.
DH has to go to work this afternoon and I have a small mountain of ironing to do and have also promised to do some baking with the DD's
Hope you all have a good bank holiday
