Hi folks
:easter::icotbaske:easter_os:EasterBun:easter_baHappy Easter!! I just love smillies!!
Hugs to Smokey at this difficult time.
Seemed to have got going ridiculously early today but really didn't want to spend my time with the world and his wife stuck in Mr T. Survived the weekly shop and then as soon as it had been put away OH headed off to the butcher the other side of town to pick up our pork for Easter Sunday. Bless- the butcher has put in loads of extra crackling as he knows it's an absolute favourite of mine and all at no extra charge. Other than that 2 loads of washing done and hung out, kitchen floor has been washed, cat's tray done, towels and bedding changed and vat of hm soup cooking right now. This pm we're out in the garden as the weather's lovely planting seeds [except me who's cleaning out the small person's sandpit prior to freecycling]
We're having spaghetti on toast for tea and then I'm off out to friends for my Spring Equinox celebration.
Hope you all enjoy the break.

Afternoon all
Hugs to those in need.
Not been posting much lately - been feeling a bit "blugh" - you know how it goes.
Bought myself a pasta machine during the week - have been holding out for one on freecycle but no luck - this one cost £35 and had the extra cutting head I wanted too, it's just like adult playdough - it's fantastic. I made spaghetti for tea that night and DD's gobbled it up like it was going out of fashion, going to do a lasagne tomorrow, it's very relaxing all that rolling!
Boned a couple of chickens this morning - meat is now portioned up in the freezer, bones have been roasted off and are now in the SC simmering away for stock so the house smells lovely.
DH is making HM burgers for tea and we shall have those in front of a film with a bottle of wine. DD's are lounging around playing on the playstation and being nice to each other (what are they after??)
DD1 has been going to knitting club at school and couldn't grasp casting on, I've never been able to grasp it as everyone said I was "cack" handed being a leftie - had a google around and found a video casting on lesson and have just mastered that so she's now happy, I dug out some old needles of my mums and have started my own bit too - will see how I get on with it.
Anyway - enough waffle from me - hope you all have a great day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Afternoon all,
Very cold and windy here, this old house has so many drafts that we had to light the fire in the living room last night as well as having heating on 'constant'. Doesn't look as if to-day is going to get any better....we have been promised hail and snow showers for later on!
Smoky...good to know that you are getting some comfort from pms and messages at present...grab all you can as I am sure you need it. Nobody expects a personal reply I am sure, but always remember that if you need to talk to anyone we are here for you...sometimes it is easier to talk to a stranger than to someone you know.
Going to make some hotcross buns later...they will be pudding this evening. OH is leaning up against the sink waiting for the super-glue (he put it on draft strip or whatever you call it on an oven) to dry, so not going near kitchen until he has left, blue air I can do without! Provided we are not poisoned by glue I am happy.
Having some nice fish...sea-bass to-day for dinner, we have fish about twice a week at least but went a bit more expensive to-day...looking forward to that.
PenPin, hope that you are feeling better to-day, sorry that you were upset by SW...she was obviously having a bad day.
Hugs to anyone else in need or want, enjoy your trip to those on holiday and have a good Easter all.

Good afternoon:D
Well no OS has happened here yet. Church this morning, then home for tea and hot cross buns:D It's very sunny, but my, so blowy, and has a real bite to the wind. So I'm going to curl up with a hot chocolate and a good book;)
Welcome to the thread, cannylass.
Squiggly diddly, try not to be upset, I know it's hard. Most sensible people know you get good and bad in all areas and professions, but human nature does tend to latch onto the worst as a generalisation:o I know a social worker (used to be a friend) who was so sure of her *rightness* I'd have done the opposite of anything she suggested:rotfl: But from the other side of the fence, i get hurt when the police are heavily criticised and dismissed. My DS3 is a policeman, and comments about how lazy, corrupted and generally useless they are ( and some of these from someone who said she was my friend) really upset me. Especially when a few hours later he returned home, cut and scarred for life from a head-kicking by a thug he was arresting. He is one of the good ones, as I'm sure you will be once qualified:D
smokybabe, hope you manage some sleep soon. The road ahead will be a hard one, and yes it is bl**dy unfair, and that is what enrages us all. Our thoughts, prayers and hopes are with you and the children. For them you will get through this, but be kind to yourself, yours is a devastating loss. ((((((hugs)))))

(((smokey)))
Not much old style happening here apart from making home made scotch pancakes from scratch for breakfast.
Washing is on the line but it is starting to rain.
Just about to go and wash my hair, shower and change and then will see what everyone fancies for tea.
Hugs to everyone."This site is addictive!"

Hello all !
So far the weather is bright and sunny but its really bitterly cold and the winds seem to be getting stronger............keep eyeing up my trees at the bottom of the garden............really I'm better off not looking. Still no snow as yet but apparently that will come overnight and tomorrow.......so it's going to be a 'white easter' !
No great plans as there's just the two of us. We never go out bank holidays anyway due to traffic so I expect we'll just be having a bit of rest and relaxation before the boys are due back on Monday night.
Haven't done half what I said I'd do during my week off.............oh well, worse things happen than not getting the stairs painted............lol
Must, just must, start painting the little cupboard thats been sadly waiting most of the week.................(hangs head in shame for being totally lazy!)
Have a good day and stay warm and hugs (((((((((((:o ))))))))))) to those who need themMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Me again....
just wanted to say sorry for being a tetchy & defensive this morning... (got a thumping headache now so it was obviously brewing)
Thank you Donny-Gal & Churchmouse (and also the person who PM'd) That was very sweet of you all. Like you say, when you do a job or know someone doing it, & hear it being generally slated, you get all bristly! I know the reputation SW has (I went in with my eyes open); suppose I just wanted to say that we aren't all like that (and have no intention of ever becoming so!) - and that people need to kick up with the SW's Practice Manager if they are behaving like that. It's not acceptable behaviour (from them). I always try to arrange meetings to fit in with my carer's lives & other commitments, but it does drive me potty when those more senior expect things to be changed/cancelled at whim...
Anyway, I shall now shut up...
Sitting in bed waiting for head to clear, but made carrott & creme fraiche soup earlier - very yummy (& beats paying about £1.20 in Asda for a tub of it).
Wasn't me that had posted re freezing crumble, but yes you can & I do! Also discovered that when making raspberry (or blackberry) muffins, use the fruit from frozen & then you don't end up with pink/purple mush.. but muffins with proper bits of fruit!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Omg just got the dogs harnesses on to go out, n it's started hailstoning really hard!!!  Will have to wait till later for a walk now as there's nooooo way they'll walk out in this, they don't even like rain. Why is Easter weather always rubbish?
Squiggly don't get upset, as nobody was criticising you or ALL social workers, as we can't say all are the same. There's good and bad in every profession however, and you wouldn't believe the amount of stick I get for being a teacher, and do I care?:whistle:;)"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
