• My company has been registered with rated people for about two years, we've had loads of work - however the cost just doesn't justify our monthly fee and the purchasing of jobs. We've got two months left on our subscription, but we won't extend as we’ve found the next best thing.

The site is KentTradesmen.com and believe they are in every county across the country. Try them as they don’t charge per job, there’s a flat monthly fee and that’s it.

Just thought I would share this with you.
• rated people..

they are a big scam, you have to haggle with customers, you are not guaranteed a return call never mind a job from any customers.
some customers dont answer you,i rang one job when it alerted me,so i rang the customer and there was a plumber already there doing job?.
rated people said i could not have refund and that was it.
i went to quote job at 6.30 pm and customer was not there and did not answer phone.
this site is for rated to make money and that is it,no more no less and they are making it out of honest workers like us.
we should put a petition together to close them down.
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::(e mail me at any time and we will get it on facebook and every social site we can.
it is about time rouge web sites were on television not just traders...
• hi i have been a member for about 3 years, ihave a had good times with this company, letting you know when things were not right.

and you did check out if people were telling the truth, but the resent changes anda mind feild of answering the quistions and then only being sent a mail and then reanswering is a waste of time.

AS A COMPANY YOU HAVE GROWN BUT AS HELPING PEOPLE YOU HAVE NOT BUT TO HELP YOUR SELF BUY INCRESSING THE PRICE YOU CHARGE AND THE NEGITIVE FEED BACK THAT TRADERS ARE LEVEING BEHINDE.

AS A BUSSINES IF I DID WHAT YOU YOU DID I WOULD BE STUT DOWN

NOT SO HAPPY COSTOMER
Dear all,

It's Sophie from Rated People here. I've noticed that a few of you are wondering about how our ratings policy works and why it is that some ratings get rejected.

Please be assured that we accept all types of feedback whether it's positive or negative.

Rated People only removes ratings in limited and specific circumstances. Once you post a rating, it is reviewed by Rated People's rating system and in almost all cases will be posted for other members to read. However, occasionally a rating might be rejected because:

• A rating may reveal personal contact details like names, company names or telephone numbers.
• A rating might be threatening, racist, obscene, discriminatory, or defamatory.
• A rating might not relate to the job.
It's sensible to ask why we would reject ratings that include company names. We reject ratings with company names because of privacy. As we publish live ratings on our homepage, we believe that company names should not be accepted by our ratings system.

When you use Rated People, you get matched to up to three tradespeople and you get to know their company names anyway - you can check their ratings and decide whether you want to use them or not. It's therefore not necessary for us to publish full company or customer names in any other way.

We believe that our rating system is one of the most solid out there, because it's directly associated with the two parties involved. You would never be able to rate a tradesperson you had not had direct dealings with.

There is no way that a tradesperson can give themselves a rating. Tradespeople use our service to manage a steady flow of work as it puts them in touch with work that they might not otherwise have heard about. They believe that good ratings will boost their reputation and therefore increase their workload so there is no motivation for them to give themselves false ratings - even if it were possible- as they'd be quickly found out.

It would also be impossible to corrupt the rating system because we match customers to tradespeople on variables associated to the job not the individual.

I hope that this has cleared things up for everyone, if you're having trouble leaving a negative rating, here are a few examples that I've taken from the site today which might give you an idea of what to say for it to get passed by our system:

“Confirmed appointment was booked, but company unilaterally cancelled this without informing us. Having cleared work and access with neighbours, such unreliability was very annoying.”

“He missed three appointments, and also pretended that he had sent us a quote which he said must have got lost in the mail.

After the third missed appointment we found it impossible to get hold of him on the phone. When we called his evening number they said he wasn't at that address any more.

Don't bother.”

“I have rated this as "not bad" because the actual stopcock did not work, but Mike was a clean and tidy worker.

Mike gave a quote over the phone for the job, turned up to do the work reasonably within time, completed the work, said he'd checked it was working, didn't leave any mess, was paid and left. I wanted to rate him, so decided to test the SC myself, only it wasn't working (within an hour of it being fitted). Phoned Mike who said that he would look at it when he did some other work for me that I had asked him to quote for. Unfortunately, the quote did not arrive, although Mike emailed me stating that an "estimate" was attached (it wasn't). I emailed him back, explaining that there had been a delay in the other work, and in the light of that I'd like him to contact me to arrange to finish the SC job. He got back to me several days later, explained that his internet connection was down, and said I should have phoned (I could have and chose not to). By that stage I'd already had another plumber out, but without knowing that fact, Mike said that he would put a stopcock in the kitchen for no charge when he carried out the other work I had asked him to quote for. I pointed out I hadn't received a quote, nor the estimate his email said was attached.

I can't fault Mike for offering to fix the issue for no further charge, however, I had already posted the other job online for further quotes, so it was not likely that I'd be engaging him to do any further work for me and therefore, despite having paid for a working stopcock, what I actually got was a stopcock that was just as useless as the isolation valve it was supposed to replace. In reality ensuring the stopcock worked should not have been linked to having further work carried out by Mike. I did, after all, pay for the work that he did, which ultimately didn't do what it was supposed to do."

Hope this helps.

Many Thanks,

Sophie

• BEWARE RATED PEOPLE....All of the above has happened to me.. This company is out for themselves only. They are overpriced and very unfair in thier reasons to not credit you.
I have spent a small fortune with this company and recieved good ratings off customers, but, they are just to expensive. They are not a viable business solution, you will give them more money than you recieve from "rated leads."
To add insult to injury I emailed them to close my account and I instructed them to take no membership fees from my bank, followed this up by calling them and speaking to thier staff..... They still went on to STEAL £47 from my account and will not pay me back.

Dont touch this company with a Barge Pole...(please listen to me and all other posts)

This is my first post on this site, although my good lady wife has read this forum for some time & will i'm sure be impressed i am doing so, but pls do go easy with me..! :)
I am a self employed joiner of almost 16yrs who has recently been badly affected with the recession & although i haven't advertised for almost 10 yrs now is at the stage where i think advertising is needed..!
I have looked in detail at joining rated people & can fully understand that the company is out to line their own pockets & also sympathise with those of you who have been affected by cowboy traders who give us all a bad name..! :(
I am more confused than ever after reading through this thread, presently rated people are offering membership for just £10 for 3 months & then anything from £4 per lead which sounds very good, in fact too good to be true..!
I am hoping to hear from other tradesmen who have used this site & how they have found it, or any other site they could recommend.!
Many thanks in advance,
kdr.

Hi Kdr,
I have used rated people since going self employed 6 months ago. The leads have cost me on average £12.
What they have done for me though is help build up a base of customers who will pass on your information to friends and family, give you good presence on the web and provide valuable leads.
To give you an idea I have probably spent around £300 on leads with them, but this has provided me with work to the total of around £3000.
It's not great value for money, after all it's another 10% of my earnings gone, but it really helped widen my client base.
I haven't spent a penny with them in two months now as the personal recommendations and additional jobs have kept me going.
It sounds like they could really help you boost the number of jobs you are getting. It is definately worth it for the 3 month period as in that time, assuming you are good and willing to invest in the leads, you will add a lot of new clients.

despite not buying any leads from them i have just renewed my membership as the ratings give me good credibility with new customers, I've even linked it through to my own website

Hope this info helps

This sounds suspicious... Spam??

• Ok so I am a tradesman and I have just started using Rated people hence I have no ratings, which basically means some one is going to have to trust me before I can even get rated - which to me seems to undermine the whole idea.

I consider myself to be a quality tradesman I am registered with all the correct bodies etc etc.

When I first heard about them I thought not another scam! I mean there is another company called Service magic I think their jobs come through 123getaquote??? .

The thing about Rated people is they charge a small fortune to pass customer details on to tradesmen £4 -£35 quid PER job - there was a job on there other day which was likely to cost the customer less than £50 but it was £18 to buy the contact details! Im not sure there is a registered qualified tradesman out there willing to buy that lead!

I understand that their revenue has to come from somewhere but the fees they charge are extortionate.

I have asked them for a explanation of their fees but they are not willing to display a charge sheet apparently its a secret!

I am sorry but i am a rated people member and it has done wonderful things to my new business this is utter tosh
• I can see why my post heaping praise on rated people may seem like spam, but honestly they have done wonders for my new business. here's my website complete with link to rated people as proof.

hope giving that info isn't an infringement on this site as not intentional.
