thank you pigpen, you've reassured me. i was going to put the other two really popular schools down which are about five miles away. i'll remember your other points. i wouldn't be able to get her to a school without public transport as i don't have a car {reminder not to buy a car until after she's got into high school} the whole system really is pants isn't it. thanks again. when the time comes i'll be picking everyone's brains! xx

Surely if the council cant accommodate the kids at their local school, then they should be supplying the transport if there isn't public transport?

I have found a course I really really want to do!

    this one here!

But it's full time.... So now I have to wonder how I could work it round DS1 school, DS2 nursery and Carers Allowance....

I know I could do it, and I could blag my way in even if I don't have the qualifications (cos I decided riding in cars with boys was more fun than exams).

Masybe I should just apply and see what happens?

sorry - very little time to read the thread this evening, but i will catch up later in the week.

Didn't do that much on my list. As usual things got in the way. Did finish marking y7 books, wrote 3 half term reports for SEN kids IEPs, and did the gifted and talented register i need to do before the end of the week.

Also, spent most of the day in the loo. I think the baby has gone head down, as i am talking seriously 10 minutes between visits.

Bit peeved off as the y9 shakespeare workshop was a bit carp because of how the kids were behaving. My wonderful work colleagues all plonked their asses down and did nothing for an hour pretty much - i stood at the back of the tiered seating for the hour trying to lean on some of the poor behaved kids, but my colleagues as usual amaze me with how poor mannered they are. Again i wouldn't dream of sitting while a pregnant colleague was struggling, but then again, most of the older nice colleagues i worked with who would have told me to sit are long gone, leaving behind a bunch of selfish !!!!!!s who are only out for themselves. I may consider moving schools when i go back as it has gone downhill in so many respects.

ANyway, bed calling now, via the loo. Need to get lots done again tomorrow so will see where i get to with it all. 21/2 more days with kiddly winkles. :j And the flu is more like a heavy cold now.

    See you all tomorrow.

Ladies - good evening or is it good night?

I have not flown at home at all tonight. In fact, I'm not that long in. My car broke down on the way home from work. On a dual carriageway in the middle of nowhere. On a day I left my mobile phone at home  and on a road not 'important enough' to have emergency phones on the side

When the car failed big time, I coasted onto the verge so didn't block the carriageway. It's then I realised I'd left the mobile at home. I stood for a bit hoping a police car would come along. It did, I saw it in the outside lane. I waved like mad. It kept on going.

I then decided to start walking. After about 1.5 miles, something makes me turn round and there's a cop car with its blues on pulling up on the verge behind me. We talk and decide the best thing for him to do is take me home where I can call the AA from there. Turns out the policecar I waved at had a prisoner aboard and couldn't stop but had called it in so someone else had come out to look for me. I took back everything I said about the first car.

So, if any  Buster observers  were watching around about 5.20 ish, they would have spotted the cop car pull up on the double yellows just across the road and let me out :)

So I call the AA from home, they come pick me up and take me back to the car. The decision is it has to be towed. Either that or wait another two hours for a low loader to come and do the job.

It was the scariest four miles driving of my life ladies. No power steering (and she's a heavy beast), no real brakes. No experience of this type of thing. And only a couple of feet between me and the tow truck in front.

But I survived. The AA man survived (even with the bestest of attempts of a Polo driver to drive into us at one particular junction) and the car is in a local garage.

They should have a diagnosis by the morning - initially thought it was the head gasket gone, but it may be less expensive than that.

But I'm knackered/had too much of an adrenalin rush and can't actually get to work tomorrow morning without spending about 3 hours on public transport. So I'm staying home tomorrow. If the car's not fixable by tomorrow evening, I'll be out hiring one.

I've not had a chance to properly catch up with the thread and do the thanks and think of other people but I'm sure you'll understand...
