Just seen Delia making spag bog with tinned mince. Wouldn't mind but you can knock it up from scratch in 20 mins not to mention the cost of hers-could probably fill the freezer with the os version. I'm all for convenience but this is taking things too far.

can they send someone 24 miles away to school when there is one only 2 miles away and we're in its catchment area? xx

In a word.. yes they can!.. BUT.. you can appeal for various reasons.

Just saying you want her with the children she has been with for years is usually enough.. also that she wants a school with their specific 'speciality'. Also things like you cannot collect/drop her off will suit.

You may have to refuse a place entirely.

I was so immature I put every school on I could think of apart from the local crappy one.. we get 3 choices but are automatically allocated the high school which catchment we are in.

I put the one I want them to go to first.. the second I chose the all girls (for the girls) and the RC high school for th eboys and third choice I put the school almost everyone in the city wants for their child and I KNOW mine wouldn't get in.

Thanks Mudbath. They're OK - one of them had a reaction to flea bites that hadn't healed, but the vet doesn't think it's serious, so isn't going to treat it as it would be using steroids. They also needed their booster injections. I thought they were due now, but I was actually 3 months too late - got confused with when they were spayed last year. So I had to pay to have them both re-vaccinated. I should be more organised - that was an extra expense I didn't need:mad:!

thank you pigpen, you've reassured me. i was going to put the other two really popular schools down which are about five miles away. i'll remember your other points. i wouldn't be able to get her to a school without public transport as i don't have a car {reminder not to buy a car until after she's got into high school} the whole system really is pants isn't it. thanks again. when the time comes i'll be picking everyone's brains! xx

Wait until I've gotten organised in all the rooms - my bedroom is going to be most interesting - I have a hanging rail, a chest of drawers, a double bed and a very old portable TV (I remember watchig Knightrider on it as a KID!) and thats it so there will be very little change in there.:rotfl:

Kitchen will probably get a sort tomorrow, but I'm going to store the freecycle stuff in there for now ;)

I am shocked at some of the things Delia is upto  By the time you've opened all those cans, jars and packets you could have made some of the stuff yourself fresh!:rotfl::rotfl:

I've not seen the series, but my Mum said there were some nice recipes. However, she said she'd probably adapt them to proper recipes rather than using tinned and frozen ingredients.
