Here you go gunsandbanjos
My other traybake is flapjacks:
8oz butter;
8oz sugar;
2 tblsps golden syrup;
10oz Tesco value porridge oats (this is what they were invented for!);
Preheat oven to Gas Mark 3. Melt butter, sugar and syrup in a saucepan; add oats. Spread in tin lined with baking parchment (can you tell I don't believe in
washing up much?!) and bake approx 35 mins.
To this basic recipe I usually add 2 tblsps sunflower seeds, 2 tblsps sesame seeds and 2 HUGE tblsps peanut butter. They are extremely nice plain, but they are wonderful with the added ingredients, plus I can kid myself that they are somehow more GI with the added "wholefood" ingredients (the seeds, not the peanut butter particularly!). You can also spread chocolate on the top if you're that way inclined.
This is how the lady wrote it out, it was so simple to do and when I've done other recipes before they've been too chewy or too hard. This was perfect. Where it said sugar I used natural golden caster sugar was all I had and cheap porridge oats like the lady said.
If you are the lady whose recipe this is, thank you very much. I did search for your post to credit you but I couldn't for trying. (sorry)0 -
Hi peeps
Been at work all day so only had a quick glance at the thread.
Came in for OH to tell me that British Gas have reviewed our gas consumption/payments and have decided to up our payments from £62 per month to £79 which sounds fair enough but they have just paid us back £303.63 that we were in credit !!! I rang them up (even tho' OH had already had a 20 min conversation trying to do the same this morning) and was able to successfully rip holes in pretty much everything the bloke said. Account reviewed every 6 months and if more than £80 in credit automatically refunded. Oh is that so - so why have we been in credit since at least March 06 and the least amount was £260 and at the most £480, so what happened to that auto refund. Was told our gas consumption was based over the last year and then divided over 12 etc, and then proceeded to show him that when I took same figures it worked out at £62 per month, so he then says over 2 years to which I told him it worked out at £52 per month. He finally gave up when he said dont forget the price of gas has gone up over the last 2 years and I told him that ours hasnt because we have been on a 3 year price guarantee! He finally agreed to reduce it to £70 per month after I threatened to go back to "bill me after I've used it in future" :mad:
Anyway this isnt getting my list done.
Hope everyone is ok, and hugs to everyone who is poorly or has poorly rellys.
Will catch ya laterMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Will try the flapjack recipe tomorrow. DS was complaining earlier that I didn't have any pastry left for jam tarts so he can have that.
Will do my best with the kitchen but DD has tonsillitous so she's not going to be at school for a few days - glad I took her to the doctors now. Hopefully she will sleep ok as she has had a nap this afternoon and went to bed at 6pm.
Right back to making easter eggs. Will catch up again later.0 -
hiya
completed my list today so need to sort out one for tomorrow though i know i'm at fracture clinic all morning.
talk about logic...we used to have three local high schools but two of them got closed down and the third was extended. my local primary school had just been told that a quarter of the children in year 6 didn't get into the high school which is two miles away. instead, the children have got places at other schools including one that is 24 miles away! i've got 2 more years before my daughter goes to high school but now i'm starting to worry. can they send someone 24 miles away to school when there is one only 2 miles away and we're in its catchment area? xx0 -

Well after a couple of hours hard graft and lots of helping DD on the computer at the same time :rolleyes: I have before and after pictures
:rotfl:
Before:
That chest of drawers is half-filled with bits and pieces like stationary, tools, hats, scarfs etc.
There's more hiding behind this stuff
There was also what used to be a cupboard where I stored all the paints which is now empty as I put the stuff in the understairs cupboardOh and I brought the shoerack down from my bedroom - seemed pointless it being up there with just 3 pairs of my shoes so I got DD to bring her ones down as well
I also got rid of a filing cabinet in the livingroom and replaced it with the chest-of-drawers and all the paper/envelopes/stickers, craft stuff and ebay packing stuff is all in it
I have stuff to list on freecycle, more for ebay and I'm making great progress in getting the place organised and sorted out to what I WANT:j
Off to watch Delia now while I check emails. I'm at the job centre tomorrow morning so will leave the kitchen until we get back. Which reminds me, I need to sort out the dishes from tea - I'll do that first before I get engrossed somewhere else:wave:
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
I sort of fell off the wagon last week - I did so well for the first couple of days. Then I had a huge stress at work and ended up working really late and just coming home and crashing, then I was away over the weekend and drove 350 miles with my car breaking down all the time:mad:!
Anyway, I've got thursday off work as well as easter, so I have more time this week. I want the house to be really clean by the weekend, as I'm going to pick up a new (non-broken) car! Saying that, it's only level one today for me as I've just got in having taken the cats to the vets straight after work. I'm off to do my level one, and then cook a really nice beef stroganoff I got the recipe from Sainsburys magazine. Happy flying, and many thanks again for this great and inspiring thread!:jMarch 2016 - £178,914.59; July 2017 £146,160.38
