Beth - it's amazing that your little one did so well; she must have looked so tiny at 1lb 12ozs. She must be a tough little fighter.

Hi everyone - just updating to add the hat I have just crocheted - it only took half an hour to do. Here is the link http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/hats-hats-hats.html. It came from C1aire's link yesterday to the 'really simple bootee pattern'. I shall do the bootees next! I used some lovely tangerine coloured wool I bought yesterday.

The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats which we can do in readiness for the go ahead of Sainsbury's next campaign.

Beth, my gn was in scbu at Hope Hospital , Salford for about 2 & 1/2 months & the nurses there were absolutely fabulous. The work those nurses can't have a price put on it.

I have started knitting again after a weeks break due to being wacked out because of garden work done for DD2. Managed to do only 2 x 7" squares this week.
Lainey, DD was in Musgrove Hospital, Taunton S/set. Yes the staff were brilliant there also, when DD was on a resperator, and not given good odds to survive, the staff let me sleep in a staff room. They were the days before parents were not catered for. The nurses used to take me to the staff canteen and make me eat something as I was there at times 24/7. Feel guilty now as it seems I was another patient for them to look after.

Lainey and Betheebee - there can be no work more rewarding than saving babies lives. Your babies will have become very special to all those lovely nurses.

Yes, I can't believe how well the hats have gone! You have all amazed me yet again! If anyone wants to do other things, cardis, blankets, bootees etc., please feel free - just keep us updated. There are some lovely patterns on the Loving Hands site and, from there, links to others. I'm really pleased with the little hat I crocheted this afternoon in just half an hour. I'm going to do lots more of those! I'll post a photo on Yahoo tomorrow.

Thanks, again, Lainey, for all the sewing up you are doing.

Hi Mioliere - Another Baby hat from me bringing my total up to five.

I thought I was making great inroads into my stash as my wool cupboard was beginning to look respectable but then I realised just how many bags of bits and pieces I had in the lounge. They have all been tidied away now (ready for visitors on Sunday) and the cupboard is full again.

I have a large (400g) ball of wool on my conscience. It is Sirdar Yo-yo the colour changes from navy blue through to mauve as you knit. On the ball band which is also the pattern the jumper is being modelled by some slip of a thing and it shows large swathes of colour blending nicely into the next. I have knitted the back and realised that in my size I will just have horizontal stripes (nice on a butter barrel) and end up with navy blue next to my face, not best for me. Sooo, I am thinking I will crochet up a lap rug which can be used by the Loving Hands charity.

Doing this alongside the cardigan I am knitting for myself is going to slow up my progress on this thread. I will try to do a little hat from time to time while ever the need is there.

    Bella.

Hi Bella - I'll update the totals with your latest hat, thanks. That Yo-Yo wool sounds lovely and so does the idea of a lap rug. I have other projects on the go - it does slow things up a bit but it's nice to go from one thing to another, I think. I've been making a little doll for my niece and am at the 'sewing up and stuffing stage' which is the worst part of knitting, so yesterday I crocheted a quick baby hat which made a satisfying change because it didn't take long. I really must finish the doll to get it posted tomorrow! I recently put all my wool into one place. It was scattered around the house in various places; I can't believe how much I've got! And I bought some more the other day simply because I liked the colour!

The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats which we can do in readiness for the go ahead of Sainsbury's next campaign.

I started to knit squares yesterday and have completed 3 - feeling very pleased with myself. Great to know that someone can benefit from a little thing.

Sorry to be a nuisance, I'd love to join in this project but can't find some info in the thread. -

Innocent smoothie hats - do we keep them til November or send them to Innocent now, or to someone on here?

Baby hats - again, where do we send them?

I've scanned through a lot of the thread but can't find the answers. I'm going blind in my old age.

    xx
