i'd certainly be happy to knit squares for both the charity blanket and one for smokey, but i dont drive and i work in the middle of the day so that puts me out of mini meets. if i get my squares done ill worry about what to do with tham after they are complete

MRS MONEYPENNY - don't worry about what to do with the squares. We are working on various options, one being mini-meets and another being a site someone on the thread found that asks for squares to be sent to them to sew into blankets for charity. Our contributions will be more than welcome so please keep checking the thread for information.

What a lovely genuine lot you are:grouphug: . When my husband was in the process of being made redundant and was so stressed he could barely think straight I bought him a huge ball of cheap wool and just got him to knit square after square in garter stitch which we then donated to Oxfam,. He found it kept his hands busy and the repetitiveness very therapeutic as there was nothing that could go wrong that we literally:D couldn't undo. In the end I joined him and tbh I think that one small thing was the small thing that kept me calm and thinking straight. He hasn't knitted since but the quality of our life has just improved beyond recognition that he hasn't needed to.

    Martyn,

Great idea of a blanket for Smoky in addition to the charity one.

No idea how to get squares to a 'sew up' point or whatever...mini meet might be on if it were held anywhere in Ireland.....no doubt something will come up that suits all

Raring to go, bl***y metacarpal tunnel syndrome thing is slowing my knitting gallop somewhat, can only do it in short bursts, maybe I should lay off for a few days but will go mad if I do that....sorry for rant, suffice it to say that squares will be available when required.

What about the Good Yarn Club? Good people working wonders with their needles for a good cause whilst enjoying a good yarn. Bit like a quilting bee without the quilt:D
