Hi all. There are lots of suggestions for names, all excellent - we'll have to have a vote! If everyone wants to have a good think about it and come up with a name, perhaps we could actually vote in a week or so's time. I'll make a note of all the suggested names and then list them all together when everyone's had a chance to think of one. I'm sure it would be quite easy to organise the vote on here.
I have been in touch with OECS, the group that actually asks for squares (not just knitted or crocheted, but cross stitch, fabric, etc.). They have an army of sewer-uppers! I will let you know the outcome. They would be ideal for those who would not be able to go on a mini-meet.
I have also been in touch with Help the Aged and will let you know the outcome of that. I will visit my local HTA charity shop tomorrow as well.
For the blanket that so many of us want to do for SMOKY, I think this would have to be done via a mini-meet because OECS only sew squares for charity.
Well, will let you know when I have heard more news.
Thanks to you all.

I haven't read all of this so please forgive me if someone has already mentioned it BUT make sure you all use same wool (eg Double Knitting) and make sure it says machine washable on the ball band.
Most wool nowadays IS machine washable, but just in case people find old wool at home, it would be a shame if it were included and then ruined in the wash.
I have co-ordinated projects where a group have crocheted "granny" squares and then they have all been joined and edged and raffled off for charity. We usually make £100 per blanket - no trouble. We ask £1 per ticket. We use new, DK machine washable yarn and 5mm hooks. They wash beautifully and the recipients have been thrilled. Similar "designer" blankets are upwards of £130.
Good luck. I'll see if I have time to participate, but lots of other things on go at the mo!0 -

Doubt it will spread 2", try if you want for an inch, but I think at least 7".

Evening Everyone
OK I've had afew glasses of wine and I can't beleive I'm going to say this but I'm going to confront my nemesis and have another go at knitting. Last time I tried when I was about 13 my nan who spent her life knitting lost her temper with me and I've never tried it since.Sorting my life out one day at a time0
