Hello everyone,
I finished my 5th square for smoky's blankets this morningI admit they're not looking just as 'square' as some of the pics that have been posted but they do stretch out to be square, I promise! I'll try and get a picture later. The pics of the squares that have been posted look great! :j

I've made another square using a different pattern this time
It takes a bit longer to do than the granny squares but gives a better finish I think
Pattern is here if anyone wants to have a go“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

I've just found this thread and not read it all yet. Will come back and read it all in detail when time. But in the meamwhile I am off to hunt for suitable colours and a crochet hook to see if I can remember how to crochet a square. Feel inspired. I think from what little I have read so far they need to be 7 x 7. Haven't yet worked out who I have to send it to when complete, but I am in Kent. Is there anything else I should know at this stage?Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Afternoon all; I haven't 'thanked' anyone yet because I have not had time to update since this morning and seeing the 'thanks' button on your posts tells me whose totals to update, IYMWIM!
Lots of new squares appearing and they are all fantastic; I still can't believe the response. You are all very gifted knitters and crocheters!
Now, the news I want to tell you. ARTYSTITCHES aka Naomi suggested we have a Yahoo group and - lo-and-behold - she has set one up specially for us! I would not have known about this and would never have thought it was possible to do such a thing without Naomi. She set the whole thing up this morning and I would like to thank her on behalf of all of us for being so generous with her time.
You will find our own Wooligan's group at http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wooligan/ . I hope you will all bear with me on this because I have to confess that I have no idea how it all works. I have been on Yahoo for while because I use it for my work, but simply as a messaging tool; I have never used it or accessed it for something like the Wooligans! This means that I am going to be on a real learning curve; any advice or hints and tips that anyone has would be most welcome.
I'll update the totals a bit later - I have a starving husband to feed (even though he threw snowballs at me INSIDE the house!) so can't do it right now.
I hope you enjoy the Yahoo group; I see that Naomi has already put some questions and answers on it for us, so that will give us a starting point. I think you have to apply to join and I have to 'approve' you, but I will keep checking back and making sure that you are all joined asap.
Thanks to Naomi and all you lovely Wooligans for your work so far and work to come!

Welcome to the thread! If you have a look at #1 it has lots of information including addresses and instructions about the projects which are on the go at the moment.0 -
Exciting news, Mioliere! No idea how Yahoo groups work, but I have applied to join anyway so we can all learn together.0

Hi Dee - we're doing 8 x 8" squares until we have completed the current projects which include 105 squares to make three blankets for the two sons and one daughter of a regular poster on the OS Daily who recently lost her husband. Once we have a total of 126 8 x 8" squares for the blankets for the elderly we will start on 7 x 7" squares which will be for as long as everyone wants to carry on. The need for blankets is always there. Have a look at the very first post on this thread - it was edited yesterday to put all the info in one place. You are also welcome to join the new Yahoo group that started this afternoon - this is brand new and so far is all new to me - I am having to learn how it works!
Thank you so much for your interest.
