Thanks aussie and mioliere :T :D

I'll get cracking on more crocheted ones then as I can knock out one of those squares in about half an hour, whereas it took 3-4 hrs to do the knitted one lol ;)

I've got various shades of red that would be great for the HTA squares as well as blue/lilac/pink/purple/cream for Smoky and her children. The dishcloth yarn was in with a bag of wool donated by a freecycler so I have plenty to practice with without it having cost me a penny :T :money:

    Morning all,

Not doing very well with the crocheting, cant seem to make it look right, but will keep on trying. They look nothing like CHAMELEON's squares.

Couldnt get any wool on local market as there was no stall this week, typical!
anyways have lots of colours i think will be ok.

On my own again as OH just gone to work, apart from shopping and sunday lunch should be able to get a few projects finished today, :T then i can start on my squares.

Hope you all have a good day.

Hi pink, would it help to have a look at the tutorial here? Don't worry, my first attempt looked nothing like that either as I'd forgotten how to make the corners until I looked at that website, so the red square was actually my third attempt at it ;)

I haven't crocheted since I was a wee girl but thankfully still remembered the basics and now I've got going it's all coming back to me (as Celine would say :rotfl: )

Can I also just say a huge thankyou to all those of you who got the ball rolling with this, and also to everyone involved in making the squares :A :A :A I am thoroughly enjoying doing this and finding it very therapeutic. I think I may have just found myself a new hobby! :T :D

Aussie - what size hook are you using as your "holes" are much smaller than mine and you've managed to get more rows (they also look much better than mine :o:p ) I'm wondering if I need to use a smaller hook

The one I used for the lilac/purple square is 4.5 and since I took the pic I've added another row (in purple) to it to get it to 8" making 7 in total (I notice yours have 10) and the red one was on an even bigger hook (6) as it's thicker wool and so far has 5 rows but falls between 7" and 8" so might have to make a slight alteration or add a row on a smaller hook

All good fun though and I'm enjoying experimenting :D
