What sort of wool do I need? I was thinking of getting extra to make a small blanket for my son so it needs to be machine washable and soft.

Hi Gingham, double knit is ideal and will give the size using 40 stitches and the size of needles you have.
I've got some 100% acrylic today and it feels soft, that way it is machine washable.

Oh, bless you, Lainey - it's so good of you to sew them all up for us. I've pm'd you by the way.

Martyn - you must have done at least four squares by now and an awning! Hope you're doing OK?

Thanks to everyone for all the thanks to me but I have honestly enjoyed all this; it hasn't been a chore at all. I've been genuinely touched by such a generous response from all of you and it's great to think that some of you are learning new skills or brushing up on old ones or simply enjoying the challenge. It's really brought people together and I've made new virtual friends on here. All power to the internet when it's used in this way.

GINGHAM - you can buy 'baby' DK wool specially for babies which should be ideal for a blanket for your LO. They usually come in lovely pastel colours.

Anyway, off to get some more knitting done.

Going to the mainland tomorrow :T and will get my wool. Glad I started on the dishcloths a while ago. I feel more confident doing these. :D
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning All,
Apologies but my squares production slipped last night! Only managed one square for Smoky as it was a long day and even longer once I'd got home from Tesco's.

Mioliere - are we going to do the running total post where we update our own figures? It would be easier on you.

Will log on later tonight as I have lots of little jobs to do out and about today and with three trailing kids in the rain it could be another long day!

    Sees ya

Thanks, GinghamRibbon - that's great! Those needles were a bargain - the last time I looked at new ones, they were nearly £3 a pair!

    Kathy

The last time I was in Aldi (about 2 weeks ago I think) they had a tube of several pairs of different sizes for £5. I really wish I'd picked them up whilst I was there now.
  • if my counting is right i make it 57 fotrHTA and 17 for Smoky!! thats amazing!!
