I have 1x 8" and 2x7" done.. and another 8" one cast on.
Are we allowed to do white ones? I have oodles of white wool but don't want to knit girly cardies for the pinks.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

I don't visit the knitters thread.. it always seemed to be people saying how bargainous their extortionate wool was and how cheap handknitted garments are when they were paying 3 times the shop cost.. that drov eme mad... I am a bit pedantic sometimes lol.. I've knitted some stuff for NICU which I rather enjoyed.. I might do a couple of white squares then knit the rest up for them.. saves postage too and I am quite lazy. I have an appointment at the hospital in a few weeks so could drop them in then.. Thanks though..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

i should have read the blurb about hats BEFORE posting that comment, save the children would prefer NOT to have all white hats for africa as that colour symbolises death in some of their cultures. sorry if ive wasted your time pigpen.
im still busy on my squares and will dig a hat pattern out later if i ever get bored with squares, im finding them very addictive and theraputic at the mo as they ae asey to pick up but hard to put down;) .
im so glad this thread was started as its really helping me tidy up and clear the draw i was storing wools in. Ive made it a rule NONE will be wasted it will all be knitted up into something, and im not allowed to buy more wools till these have all gone
Thanks for posting about NICU i might try asking again at my hospital again i knitted a few prem sets years ago but was told they couldnt accept any more as they no longer supplied clothes for bebes in case of risk of infection.SPC~12 ot 124

Don't log on often or read the threads, but caught up with this one on Monday (no work), read through the whole thing and was inspired, its amazing what one simple thought will do.
I've done you 2 squares in crotchet and will do some more when I dig out some more wool.
Its great, its giving me a chance to try some fancy patterns and play around.
Have I missed where to send them or is that coming later and are we still doing 8" squares.
Both mine are in a gingery colour so will do for HTA
Hi WASBROKEetc - You haven't missed where to send the squares. I shall be posting the addresses tomorrow - we're still doing 8" squares until we have 63 - see my sig! Thank you so much for contributing and I'm so glad you're enjoying doing it!

there is a yahoo group I am sure it is called Cuddles that have a central collection point and distribute to the NICU's that request stuff.. they are worth getting involved with.
I have other colours I can add in with the white.. pinks and blues and greens.. stripes are cool! lolLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Pigpen, I have some white that I am trying to use up too!
I've just added a stripe or too to the pinky-marroon colour that I was using. Hope this is ok...Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.0 -
afternoon all, I'm glad folks have mentioned white wool, I was wondering whether to use up some I have stashed as I hate making baby stuff in white, sounds daft I know but I'd rather wait till baby arrives and then make something in the appropriate colour but then again I hate baby pinks and blues, I usually go for lilacs and greens or even bright colours. I suppoose I just like to kick against tradition!! Having said that I must stress that I don't mean my babies, those days are long gone , my DD is 20 so it's been my nephews I've knitted for or friends babies and I've only used white if I've been specifically asked to. I suppose I will end up knitting for Grandchildren at some point though not too soon I hope !
Mrs Moneypenny, I'm trying to do the same thing, using up all my stash before I buy anymore but I can't resist buying some when I see nice mixes and colours! So I think some stripey squares will be quite cool, considering the calibre of talented knitters we seen to have here.
Working on square 3 for HTA at the mo, just stopped to put tea on, shepherds pie mmmm!doing what I do best...trying!!-- lainey :j

MRS MONEYPENNY - it would be great if you could all pm me with your 'squares so far' - it makes my eyes wobble going through the thread! That's a great idea - I wish I'd thought of it! I shall update my sig with your square in a mo!
I think if we all aim for two squares for Smoky's blanket we should easily get to 63. For those of you who may have already done more than two, or who want to do more than two, perhaps any left over could be made into a cushion (s) to go with the blanket?
Kathy
:hello:
Hi moiliere what a good idea from mrs-moneypenny to pm you with our totals, I will certainly do that when I have finished the one I am working on.
Like the idea of a cushion(s) sounds good to me:T0 -

I entirely agree pigpen knitting is all about enjoyment not one-up-manship, and it does`nt matter if something does`nt quite look like the picture, as long as the knitter loves it:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
