Another two from me today. I'm nearly out of these colours so will start on Smoky's squares as soon as they've run out.

What size was decided for Smoky's squares?

Sarah - I'm so impressed -that's brilliant! That makes 30 squares counted so far! - almost half a blanket already!

TBH I'm not sure what size the squares are for Smoky's blanket - can someone who is already working on them please enlighten us?

    Thanks.

  • hi again all, been out with OH today, just got back.
had a thought.....if everyone's doing the HTA blanket squares as 8" squares, why don't we do Smoky's the same size? that way no-one has to worry about reworking patterns or finding different needles and stuff, and we can just concentrate on colours.

Mioliere, how many squares have we got for Smoky so far? I've been thinking about this all day and if folk are OK for me to sew the blanket up they can PM me for my address and then we'll work out how to get the finished article to Smoky...
I'll post pics as I go and then post pics of the finished blanket so that everyone can see their handywork. what dya think?.......

Hi Lainey - hope you had a good day out. I think it's a good idea to keep to 8" squares for Smoky's blanket. Thanks again for the offer of sewing up but I don't want you to take on too much. I know we can send the Help the Aged squares to OECS for sewing up but not Smoky's, so it would only be one blanket (unless we keep up this fantastic production rate!) We would love a pic of the finished blanket as well - that would be great.

At the last count earlier this afternoon, we had 30 squares - almost half a blanket!

    :hello:

Hi all, Just finished 2nd square both crocheted, must say I have really enjoyed doing these. I am starting on knitted squares now.

Does anyone know if fluffy wool will be ok ,as I have found a couple of balls each of white and lilac, not sure about washing them you see, as these blankets will be washed a lot I imagine.

    Hello

I've mastered garter stich I knitted dd rag dolly a scarf first, its not great with quiet afew holes but managed to cast on and off and knit and purl. I'm confident enough to move onto the squares. I've been given some wool in a lovely golden colour so will start tonight.

by the way, I could sew up Smoky's blanket if everyone wanted to send me the squares. I could then send it on to her or a moderator to send on to her , whichever method works best....... let me know what you think folks:o

Right hanging my needles up for tonight! Managed one more for the tally but it's back to the grind tomorrow and a good nights sleep is in order. I think I have just enough wool left in warm colours to do one more square unless I can scrounge any from my Mum.

    Night all!
