Hi all.
Pippa and Shazrobo - thanks for your updates - I'll add them when I next do the update.
Pippa - thanks for your thoughts about work last week! I must admit I'm glad the stint is over; it was very hard, especially the last two days, so I'm glad it's over! As luck would have it, I had a lot of unexpected typing work to do over the weekend (rewording and printing-up a flyer for someone) so there seems to have been no time off yet. I'm almost through another teddy, though - just wish I could keep awake in the evenings!

Hello everyon e. Hope you are all well and not too cold.
Aftermy son said " Mum how long is it now that you have been obsessed with knitting" I thought I should have a little break -- so what happens-- I got completely obseesed with sock monkeys !!!!
Anyway back on track a little. Please update me with 2 angel pockets.
Hope everyone isn't being too worn down by the bad economic news. I must say I think some of the adverts for such a "perfect" Christmas must be bery hard for all the people who are struggling or have been made redundant etcTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hi everyone - sorry, I've not been on MSE much lately; too much going on at the moment.
I WILL update today, I promise!
Chalky - good to hear from you and well done on your sock monkeys! I agree with you about the news - it's a worry for all of us and I, too, wish they would stop acting as if everyone is going to have a worry-free Christmas. I think it's a stressful time financially for most of us and even more so this year. They could do with running a few public information ads about how to have an MSE Christmas and how to cut down generally. I'm just glad that I have been buying presents throughout the year and, also, I've been knitting presents for the children I buy for. Next year, I shall start even earlier!
I have a couple of hats and teddies to add when I update later.
Hope you all have a good day.

Hi everyone; I haven't been around properly for ages so apologies for that. I hope everyone is well and not too cold. We have lovely weather here today - bright and sunny but you still need gloves and scarves because the wind is quite sharp! Still, my washing is blowing nicely on the line so I mustn't grumble.

Here is the latest update
The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats for Sainsbury's, the closing date for which was 17th October 2008 by which time they had received over 500,000 hats - that's more than 100,000 more than last year. As each one raises 50p that's over £250,000 raised for Age Concern! Our hats on here will raise £224 so please give yourselves a huge pat on the back! The hats will go on sale, each on a bottle of Innocent Smoothie, in Sainsbury's on 5th November - I wonder if any of us will recognise a hat we've made in our local branch?!

Hi there. F1Widow - I haven't forgotten to include you in the update. I haven't updated yet; I'll do it tomorrow when I have a bit more time!
Ianna - with the teddy pattern, it just means that, once you have knitted the first leg, you don't cast off but just leave it on another needle (I leave it on the same needle and just push it out of the way), then you knit the second leg exactly the same as the first and then knit across all the stitches of both legs which joins them together before you carry on and knit the body. I hope that makes sense!
Kathy
OK so....I knit one leg. I then move the leg slightly down the needle and then knit the second leg. I then knit a row sort of above the two legs so that it joins the legs together. I think I understand thanks Kathy.0 -
Hi --- 2 more baby hats for me pleaseTry and do a good deed every day.0

Hi Mioliere
I'd love to join the wooligans and have a number, please. :grouphug:
Needles at the ready once all the pressies are finished - one hat for SIL and two sock monkeys for DDs still to go. :snow_laug
Thanks, Chris0 -
Ianna - sounds as if you understood my post!
Chalky - thanks, I will update later. Your hat total is amazing - you must be able to knit them in your sleep!
Hi Chrisbethany - welcome aboard! Glad you have joined us! You sound as if you've been busy with your knitting needles; I've also made some Christmas pressies this year and I shall do the same next year, too. I have lots of children in the family to buy for and it has helped save money as well as use up my stash of wool!
Have you read the very first post on this thread? It contains all the info about what we do and the addresses for where we send our finished items. There is a link to our Wooligans Yahoo group, where we post photos. You will need to apply to join and then I 'approve' you; once you have joined you can see all the photos and post messages. It's been a bit quiet on there recently because we are all focusing on Christmas at the moment, but there are some lovely photos.
We send our baby items to www.lovinghands.org.uk (which is a lovely site with a great forum) and to http://preemiesuk.googlepages.com/home.html and we have recently been asked to send to http://www.bonniebabies.co.uk/ as well. The sites have plenty of free patterns to download. Loving Hands also has ongoing challenges - you'll find all the info on the site.
Once you have knitted something, let me know on here and I will add your name to our update list on which we keep a running total of things made. I update as often as I can and also update on the very first post.
It's great to have another member but, as I have said in other posts, we all lead busy lives, so don't feel under pressure to keep knitting. We all have times when other things take over our domestic and working lives - even one little hat counts and will help a baby in need.

Hi Kathy
Thanks so much for all that info. I'll get going after Christmas. Love to all,
