Hi everyone. I'm just about to update - I should have done it a couple of days ago but the time has just run away from me this week! I shall be glad when my time back at my old job is over! It's been hard work and has left me really tired in the evenings. I am definitely too old for this!
On the Innocent Smoothie theme, I received a card from them yesterday thanking me for my hats; it must take them ages because they include a personal little message on each card. Mine told me they liked my snowman hat and the one I made to look like a satsuma. I shall look forward to next year's campaign and have already started a separate stash of oddments and leftovers just for the hats.
Shezmit - the Christmas stockings sound interesting - good luck with the other 29! Are they your own design?
Over the weekend I'm hoping to get a couple of teddies made - a cousin of mine who lives in America had a dreadful car accident in July and was not expected to survive. He is only 19 and a very talented musician. He is still in a coma and has had many operations, but is very gradually on his way back due to the brilliant rehab unit he is in now. He has received the most fantastic medical care and the family want to thank the hospital that saved his life; one of the things they have asked for is toys for the children at the hospital, so I thought I'd send some teddies. I'm going to knit them in the red, white and blue of our Union flag and their Stars and Stripes.
I have a couple of things to send to Preemies and Loving Hands and will get some more done next week. I only have to work on Thursday and Friday next week so, once I have finished work today, I have five days off! Fortunately, my DH has the day off today and has said he will get some chores done for me while I'm at work - I'm going to leave him a list!

I hope everyone is keeping well and thanks for your latest items; here is the update:
The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats for Sainsbury's, the closing date for which was 17th October 2008 by which time they had received over 500,000 hats - that's more than 100,000 more than last year. As each one raises 50p that's over £250,000 raised for Age Concern! Our hats on here will raise £224 so please give yourselves a huge pat on the back! The hats will go on sale, each on a bottle of Innocent Smoothie, in Sainsbury's on 5th November - I wonder if any of us will recognise a hat we've made in our local branch?!

Hi Kathy
Can you update me with 1 PREEMIE CARDI please.
I had another card from Innocent smoothies yesterday too, It said "hello again Anne" on the top and thanked me for the extra 10 I sent.
Its really nice of them to send the cards out, must cost a fortune in postage though and very time consuming.
Hows work going??? not much longer now though is it, then you can get your feet up for a bit....but I dont suppose there is much chance of that really with Christmas looming

Hi Pippa - how nice of them to send you another card! I shall definitely take part next year. I found it a lot of fun - the hats are so simple and quick to make, aren't they?
Well, I've finished work now until next Thursday and Friday and then that's it until just after Christmas, when I am covering for the emergency sessions (the two nurses are Polish and will be going home for Christmas). I won't mind doing that because the practice just does two hour sessions a day during that time purely for emergencies - not very nice for the patients who are suffering but much more interesting from a staff member point of view - you never know what you will get!
It has worn me out, though, and I am looking forward to the next few days so I can catch up with things properly and do a bit more towards Christmas; I've done all my shopping apart from buying for my DS2 (who also has a birthday in the first week of December that I need to buy for!) so I just need to finish the wrapping up and I have a few more cards to write. I also have DH's never-ending admin to do and my own freelance work, so there won't be much rest but I just love working from home, especially in the winter! I hope to get a lot more knitting accomplished, too!
Gosh, I've waffled on, haven't I?
Hope you have a great Saturday!

Hi - Can you add me now to the totals
I have just sent 10 Squares and 1 baby blanket off - many thanks
Also do you add them on when they are sent or just when you have knitted them.
I am hoping Loving Hands think they are ok!!!!
Kind regards to all Jaqui xxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
Hi F1widow. I'll add you when I update a bit later this afternoon. We add our things when we have finished knitting them. I'm sure Loving Hands will be delighted with your contributions. We haven't been totalling our squares but I will add yours and, if anyone wants to add theirs or can remember how many they have done altogether, I can add the category to our updates. At the end of the year I shall try and make a final count so that we can see just how well we have done!
Hope everyone is well. I have knitted two small teddies; while they are not for any of our regular challenges they are being sent to Baltimore, USA, to be given to children at the hospital there which saved my cousin's life in July and continues to care for him now. His immediate family want to do all they can to help the hospital so my teddies are still going to a great cause. I also have bootees and buntings to post to PreemiesUK which I will try and do this week.

I got a personal note in my IS card too! I thought it was really nice of them. I'm so glad I did all those hats thanks for the idea fellow knitters!
This might sound like a daft question but with this teddy pattern it says "knit another leg" but I'm not sure whether I'm knitting into a different bit or something to make another leg? Srely I'm not just carrying on from the last rows I knitted because that's another leg? Am I making any sense?0 -
Hi there. F1Widow - I haven't forgotten to include you in the update. I haven't updated yet; I'll do it tomorrow when I have a bit more time!
Ianna - with the teddy pattern, it just means that, once you have knitted the first leg, you don't cast off but just leave it on another needle (I leave it on the same needle and just push it out of the way), then you knit the second leg exactly the same as the first and then knit across all the stitches of both legs which joins them together before you carry on and knit the body. I hope that makes sense!
