Hi Kathy,
Yes every year is shorter I reckon
Can I ask whats with the monkeyssomeone else mentioned them earlier in the thread, is there a pattern somewhere around?
I wonder if my DGD's would like one each, they are coming up next Thursday until Sunday, I can hardly contain myself.:j :j :j
I just hope my house guest moves out tomorrow so I can blitz upstairs.

Hi Pippa - the monkeys I'm making are from a pattern I bought over the internet from someone in Italy! It's not one I've seen anywhere else but it's an easy pattern that knits up a cute monkey. I have your email address so I'll see if I can email it straight to you.
I still haven't updated yet - spent all day putting up the Christmas decorations yesterday. I'll come back later and update.
Hope everyone has a good day.

shaz xenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
Thanks Kathy I will look out for it, seems like you have started something with the monkey.
I predict.... we will all be knitting like crazy after Christmas on a Monkey Knit :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Our decs are still in the loft, we are going to get them down this afternoon.
It takes longer every year to put them up, I keep saying "I am not putting them all up" yeah right
I cant resist it especially with the girls coming. :j

Just wanted to say hello and apologise for not getting much done - December is always stupidly busy for me workwise so the knitting tends to get a bit forgotten. I'm halfway through two teds, I got myself in such a fluff with the arms that I knitted another body instead lol but I'll definitely get them done when it goes quieter over Christmas. I might also have knitted a couple more innocent hats for next year's campaign ... they're horribly addictive and I couldn't just go cold turkey
Also, I got a certificate in the post the other day from Innocent, I assume because I knitted over 100 hats. It's very nice of them and I'll stick it in the picture when I photograph the two finished teds. And I've not forgotten about the pics of the original 100 hats, they're still waiting for me to get round to putting them on the computer!0 -
Hi everyone. I see we're all busy getting ready for Christmas!
Pippa - I'm so glad you've got the girls coming! Now that my own two have grown up, I do our decorations mainly for DGS and DGD - it makes it all the more exciting again!
Shaz - if you'd like to pm me your email address, I'll send the pattern to you. I've finished my first one and I'm really pleased with it. It has long skinny legs and arms and big ears and looks really sweet. It's not too big, either, so doesn't take too long to make.
Gingernutmeg - don't apologise. It's such a busy time of year and I don't expect anyone to feel under pressure to knit; it's much better if we just fit it in with our home lives. Congratulations on your certificate - it must be because you sent in over 100, which was a fantastic achievement. I shall make some more IS hats in the new year, to use up scraps of wool and to get a head start for the next campaign. I find them easy to do if I want a change from making anything more complicated. Like you say about going 'cold turkey' - it's hard not to have something on the needles, isn't it?
Well, here's the latest update. I have nothing to add, I'm afraid, but will concentrate on preemie stuff when I've finished my latest monkey.
The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats for Sainsbury's, the closing date for which was 17th October 2008 by which time they had received over 500,000 hats - that's more than 100,000 more than last year. As each one raises 50p that's over £250,000 raised for Age Concern! Our hats on here will raise £224 so please give yourselves a huge pat on the back! The hats will go on sale, each on a bottle of Innocent Smoothie, in Sainsbury's on 5th November - I wonder if any of us will recognise a hat we've made in our local branch?!

Hi - it's me again!
I've just been thinking about the future. I shall do a final mass update at the end of this year and I shall also revise the very first post to tidy it up and give us a brand new start. In that first post, I'll keep all the relevant addresses and links, and I'll put the totals we've achieved as a group this year, then start a new regular update with our individual names. Financially, with out 448 hats for IS, we raised the brilliant total of £224, which is absolutely fantastic so well done, everyone! I'll make sure that goes in our final update for 2008.
I still can't believe how well this has gone and how hard everyone has worked - I would never have believed we could achieve so much! I'm looking forward to having the whole year ahead to do more! I think you are all wonderful!
Have a great day!

Shazrobo - glad it got you!
Mrs Moneypenny - good to hear from you. It's a hectic time of year, isn't it? I've been concentrating on Christmas for the last couple of weeks. All of sudden, there's less than two weeks to go! I'm trying to get everything done this week and then the plan is to relax and knit - but you know what they say about the best-laid plans! I hope you have a great Christmas, too!
