Hi Everyone
I'm new but have been lurking for a while. Have just applied to become a Wooligan as have been admiring all your hard work with the charity knitting.
Hope nobody minds daft questions as I am bound to have some along the way - I am not the greatest knitter in the world but I am getting better!

Hi K2tog - what a great name! Welcome aboard and we are honoured that you chose this thread for your first post! I'll check on the Wooligans site to 'approve' you, then you'll be able to see all the photos on there. Have a look at the very first post on this thread - it has most of the info you'll need, but please feel free to ask questions; there'll always be someone along to answer them.


I took a break from knitting monkeys and have a little cardi to add to the next update. Once the monkeys are finished, I shall do some more preemie things.

Gosh Moiliere, you were up early ! Or late!
Have just been having a look at the lovely pics on the Wooligans site - what a lot of work you all have put in. I really loved the IS hats so hoping they do it again - must be very satisfying to finish something so quickly and go wild with the design!
I'm off to look for some DEAD SIMPLE patterns for hats, booties etc:snow_grin

Hi K2tog - yes, I was up early yesterday, and the day before - too much Christmas planning whirring round in my head! I'm glad you've been able to see the photos; there are some really talented knitters and crocheters on here! As for the IS hats, they are for Sainsbury's Innocent Smoothie campaign, which they have every year to raise funds for Age Concern. Each hat raises 50p which makes it even more satisfying! This year they received over 500,000 hats, raising more than £250,000 (to which I am proud to say we contributed £224!). The closing date is usually half way through October, and the hats go on sale, on top of bottles of Innocent Smoothies, in the first week of November. I've been making the odd one now and again to go towards next year's campaign because they are such a good way of using up scraps of leftover wool; once you've made the first one, it's easy to remember the instructions, so they are ideal for doing when you don't want to have to concentrate too hard! The only 'extra' you add is your imagination! Everyone who sends hats gets a little thank you card, and those who send in more than 100 - like our Gingernutmeg - gets a special certificate.

Don't forget to post on here the items you make so that they can be added to the running totals, and you'll find all the addresses for sending the items to in the very first post on this thread. Loving Hands has some lovely free-to-download patterns and links to other sites with patterns, too.
