hi, hope everyone on this thread had a good xmas
can you update me with 3 vent hats pleaseenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
Hi everyone. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and were able to relax after all the build-up to it! I must admit I've lazed around far more than I intended but it has been nice to take it easy. We'll be busy again soon enough, won't we? I have to work today, tomorrow and Wednesday but only for a two hour shift each day, as emergency cover, so it won't be too bad, I hope! I shall take a book to read in case it's quiet - I wish I could take my knitting but I don't feel that a dental surgery is quite the right place, especially when it comes to things for vulnerable babies.
Anyway, here is the latest update - I only have one cardi to add at the moment. I put most of my knitting stuff in the spare room over Christmas because it was taking over the sitting room (as it does), so I need to get it all out again and re-organise my stash ready for the brand new year!
I hope you are all well and enjoying the Christmas break.

The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats for Sainsbury's, the closing date for which was 17th October 2008 by which time they had received over 500,000 hats - that's more than 100,000 more than last year. As each one raises 50p that's over £250,000 raised for Age Concern! Our hats on here will raise £224 so please give yourselves a huge pat on the back! The hats will go on sale, each on a bottle of Innocent Smoothie, in Sainsbury's on 5th November - I wonder if any of us will recognise a hat we've made in our local branch?!

I have started another cardigan and I see Shelley needs a few things so I will do a few buntings when I have finished it.
Hope things are ok with you

Hi Pippa - hope you had a good Christmas. I'll do a final update tomorrow for the end of the year and then start a new list for 2009. I shall also make some things for Shelley next.
Shelley - I'm glad you need used postage stamps; I always collect them because my local Co-op used to have a collecting box to put them in, but the box disappeared a couple of months ago for some reason. I shall send some when I next send you some knitted items. I shall make a start on some vent hats and buntings soon.

Hi all - it's me again! Tomorrow, as you all know, is the last day of 2008. I shall be updating our final totals and starting afresh for 2009. I don't know whether or not to start a whole new thread with a new title for 2009, or just to carry on with the old one, so I would be really grateful for any input. If we start from brand new again, the first post will carry our final update so that any newbies will know how well we did in our first year. I shall also include all the relevant information from the old thread that we will still need, like addresses, websites and so on.
As I said, I would be grateful for feedback on this and any ideas that you may have on how to progress into 2009.
I hope you are all having a good day and not feeling too cold!
