I hope everyone will forgive me for not having updated for a few days - I've been really busy. I can't believe how much you have all made since the last update. Well done, everyone!

As I have said, I will be away at my Mum's from Sunday to Friday next week; if I can find an internet cafe I'll try and pop in but I probably won't be able to update until the Saturday of that week. I'll check before I go and update this Saturday. I have plenty of wool in my suitcase ready for the knitting marathon that I am sure my Mum and I will have next week!

Chikadee - your efforts are NOT feeble. Every hat counts be it one or a thousand and one! As for your half-finished jumper, we all have things that are half-finished. I have three items like that. I think it's common practice!

Gingernutmeg - thanks for the update. Please don't apologise for not having updated - we all fit this in with our very busy lives. I'm just amazed how many people will take the time and trouble to knit for others so thank you.

Seakay - great to hear from you and thanks for your update.

Thanks also to Shazrobo, Shezmit and C1aire for your updates, too. Hopefully I'll get the running totals right now!

    Here's the latest update

The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats for Sainsbury's campaign for which the closing date is 17th October!

Sorry, Shazrobo - will edit the last update and put that right. I'll also add your sailor's hat. Well done. I keep forgetting about that challenge; I have some 'macho' wool so I shall dig through my patterns and find one.

  • Just wanted to say that I've managed to post some pics of the last 28 hats I sent to Innocent on the Big Knit Flickr site (link here, on the Big Knit page). They're the pictures from Gingernutmeg :)

Hi Gingernutmeg - for some reason I can't find your hats on any of the twelve pages that come up on that site. I'll have another look a bit later. Well done; you made an amazing number of hats!

Chickadee - the good thing about the STC hats is that they don't take as long as a jumper and aren't big enough to get bored with knitting. Some of them are really quick.

I just want to remind everyone that I shall be away from tomorrow, returning on Friday evening, so I won't be able to update until next Saturday. I haven't managed to do much knitting lately but will make up for that when I am staying with my Mum next week! I have my knitting bag packed with wool, needles and patterns!

I'll call in later today in case there are more things to add so that the running totals are as up to date as possible before I go away.

  • Hi everyone, I'm new to this site(well post-wise anyway!). I'm busy knitting squares at the moment, my daughter's were supposed to learn to knit for Brownies, the idea being that they all make some squares and then join them together, making a big blanket for some Bolivia charity thing. I showed them how to knit, but it's not easy is it? So of course I'm the one who's ended up doing them lol.
