:hello:
Hello everybody,
errrmm can somebody tell me what SCBU stands for
I think I must have missed it somewhere
mrs_moneypenny I know what you mean about having lots on needles,
but isnt is lovely as each one is finished off and the pile starts mounting up:D
I have finished the corner to corner blanket I was doing, it took longer than I thought it would as I had so many distractions, but I must say I am really pleased with it.
I think i`ll have a go at the waffley blanket next week as we are going away for a few days, and I can get a good start in the car while we are driving down. I will continue with hats until we go though, I started one last night but was so tired I fell asleep after a few rows:o

I'd like to join in, if I'm not too late.
I've found some of the hat patterns and the IS pattern thingy (what a bizarre idea LOL) - are we still doing blanket squares or have hats taken over? Happy either way, but there will be some places/situations where crotcheting a square would be easier than knitting a hat.
I don't promise to do lots as I don't have loads of free time, but I figure even one or two will help.0 -
Hi everyone! Yes, I know it's early! The rain has been so heavy it kept waking me up so I gave in and got up for a cuppa and found myself on here!
Chalky - thanks for the update - you're doing really well!
2Cats1Kid - Welcome to you and thank you for joining us! Love the name! If you read the very first post on this thread there is a lot of info there. We are mainly doing hats now but squares are always needed by OECS (details in the first post); we are also branching out and making other things like blankets, bootees - well, anything really! The deserving causes will never go away so make whatever you want! Also, join us here http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wooligan/ on our Yahoo group!
I know some of you are knitting other things now and I have a feeling that Mrs Moneypenny or Pippa made a cardi recently and I haven't included it in the totals; I think we're up to date with the hats totals but not with anything else so if you wonderful people would just post with the details of the other things you have knitted, I can add them to the running totals.
I've been doing a lot of office work for the last few days which, hopefully, is easing off now so I should be able to catch up on the knitting. I have some hats to post off to Loving Hands and then I shall attempt some of the cardis and bootees.
Off to update now!
Latest Update:
The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats which we can do in readiness for the go ahead of Sainsbury's next campaign.

I have just re-jigged the first post on this thread to take out some information that is no longer relevant and to add the recent links I have been posting - I hope it still makes sense! In future, I shall make sure any links to new sites are posted there as well to make sure all the info is in one place! There's nothing worse than having to trawl through posts looking for something, is there?!

hi kathy, your totals list will start getting huge if you want to include everything we are knitting for charities:rotfl: .
I did 2 baby cardigans i posted them off before taking a photo but they are pictured on the loving hands summer donations thread, if anyone wants the paterns i can photocopy them. I've done 1 waffley blanket for loving hands but not sent it off yet (i'm trying to complete another so i can get them both sent off together.)
I'll mention things im knitting foro family frineds on here but dont want to include them on any totals lists as it will distort the figures.
its nice to see how much we've bumped up the hats totals for loving hands isn't it:T . well done everyoneSPC~12 ot 124

Mioliere---- Thanks so much for taking the time to re-jig the first post. It makes it so easy to follow the links.
Loving knitting the spiral hat it is sooooooooooo easy and so softTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
SCBU means Special Care Baby Unit. It's for babies born before time or below weight. What the Americans call 'preemies'. Your local general hospital may have one, or it may be called NICU in some of the bigger hospitals: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
These babies are in need of things to keep them warm in their incubators, things to prevent heat loss from their heads (the largest surface area) hence the need to knit small stretchy hats.
At present I'm on with the simple pattern knitted blanket, the one that mioliere recommended, in Baby Aran. The only difference: I thought it would look better with a garter-stitch border all round, so as well as the garter stitch beginning and end, I'm doing 5 stitches plain knitting at start and end of every row.
I'm also doing one of the knitted hooded baby wraps in baby 4-ply blue.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Hi all.
Mrs Moneypenny - yes, I had thought of how long the list will be but I can't think of any other way to record the running totals! I know the items will still be going to good causes but it would be great to keep abreast of exactly what the Wooligans are achieving, wouldn't it? I love to hear about the other things people are knitting that aren't for charity - it would be lovely to see photos, too!
Chalky - I haven't knitted the spiral hat yet but I think I'll do that next. I'm making a little teddy for DS1 and DIL's wedding anniversary on Thursday - I'm making a backpack for it, too. I have had a tiny teddy for years and it goes on every holiday with us ; he has been photographed all over Europe and, when DS1 travelled abroad a lot as a Civil Engineer, he also took it to Zambia, Zimbabwe, India and Nepal! He is a very well-travelled bear and I want to make sure each of my sons has their own teddy to carry on the family tradition. I'm also going to make one for DS2 and his bride-to-be which I shall give them on their wedding day.
Anyway, I'd better go and get some housew**k done - it really interferes with the knitting, doesn't it?! A bit later on I shall update the totals to include your cardis and blanket, Mrs MP and, also, I noticed that I haven't included a couple of things that R.Mac has made.

What a dim-wit as soon as I had posted I realised :rotfl:
