'Would the checkout girl still have been laughing if the fatty told her that she had MS, and the medication she was on & her illness was the primary cause for her being overweight, and that all she had to look forward too is more drugs with horrible side effects, eventual slow and awful decline before death?'
Oh gee thanks for cheering me up,
Ive got MS, am 16 stone but thats down to me liking my food too much, slow and awful decline? I'm looking forward to it..... NOT

Just out of interest are you happy for her to laugh about it in another room? It seems everyone else is.0

Where did my post go? Just after Honeydog I posted a response, pointing out 2 things, firstly it works both ways, customers are incredibly rude now, treat staff with no respect and see the checkout operator as a means ro an end rather than a person, and secondly that expecting professional service from people who are not professionals may be expecting a tad too much.
Anyway...redrabbit29 wrote: »That's what makes me laugh about members of the public. What makes you think in anyway, that the person who is serving you cares? Do you think they'd be absolutely shocked and stunned to see you walk out of the shop? No, it'd be a great laugh for them.
Why is it that people expect sales assistants to care so much? They work for a huge company with hundreds of branches. They are being paid minimum wage, and probably work part time for 12 hours a week.
I find whay Freddy said funny also, I've seen him say it on a couple of threads now and it seems to come from a "HAHA, you've been rude so now you have to walk round the store putting all these things back" position, what he seems to be ignorant of is that, at least in my experience, the person on the checkout will have absolutely nothing to do with shelf stacking and so is likely to care even less.Bought, not Brought0 -

LOL does he actually think that! Perhaps he can't think straight after eating so many Easter eggs;)0 -
Nope I give good service in my job (and previous jobs) and I'm not over 50-not that it would matter if I was.
No-one really wants to work but the day passes far more quickly and pleasently if you're doing a good job and been appreciated for it.
I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure why Honeydog being over 50 (if she is) is relevant. As a customer, I've been served by lovely and not so lovely people both over 50 and under 18!
I've also worked with the public and find exactly the same - but I would make it my challenge to turn around a bad situation - far more satisfaction with that than antagonising a grumpy customer further.0 -
You never laughed at anyone then without them knowing?0

Hi there, just read the thread. OMG how awful, regardless of colour or 'fitness' to talk about anyone in this way is cruel and unkind. The op was right to complain although I know I would have challenged them then and there.Hitler was able to do what he did because it was easier for people to avoid confrontation. Some confrontation is necessary, this is a prime example. I would indeed write to the MD and if you have the receipt, send him a copy it will identify the member of staff. I am absolutely positive, it will be dealt with the appropriate severity.0
