I have sensitive teeth and use Sensodyne which is expensive. I have tried other brands for sensitive teeth, even ones such as Colgate when they have been on offer, but I do not find that they work.
I just have to grin (!!) and pay for the Sensodyne.0 -
I use Tesco cheap one, although haven;t tried the Value one, and it's fine. Doesn;t taste as lovely as the posh ones, but I don;t care - it's only in my mouth for a couple of minutes!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Toothpaste doesn't do an awful lot - it's the actual brushing action that keeps plaque under control.
Toothpaste provides a more "comfortable" brushing experience and some short lived freshening qualities but not a lot else. Don't waste energy on choosing toothpaste - save it for your brushing techniques. When you brush your teeth, actually think about what you are doing and try to picture yourself cleaning each tooth individually and remember to have at least half the brush below the gum line.
Plaque lives on the gum line, so we should really brush our gums more than we brush our teeth!
To prove this, look at my teeth

I buy either tesco value or sainsburys basics toothpaste. It tastes fine and they're one of the few toothpastes my kids haven't moaned about!! Also if you'd seen the state of my bathroom after the kids have cleaned their teeth, you'd know why I buy value/basics toothpaste!!0

Whilst it is true to say that toothbrushing (and interdental cleaning)is proven to help prevent gum disease and not tooth decay, it is not true to say that toothpaste doesnt do an awful lot. It is an effective delivery method for applying fluoride to the surfaces of teeth and tooth decay rates fell markedly with the introduction of fluoride to toothpaste in the 1970s in the UK.

No.
Only a very few places. Birmingham is the notable one.
New regulations will make it easier for water companies to start adding it if communities request it, but it has to get past the nutter brigade first. (Ducks for cover as nutters converge!)How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I always use colgate Total after reading an article saying it was the only toothpaste that had 3 necessary ingredients (not a clue what); my dentist seemed impressed when I mentioned it to him.
He did tell me that my teeth and gums have improved dramatically in the last few years. It's either the toothpaste or the sonic toothbrush or both!
Anyone know whether mineralising toothpaste is worth using?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
