    Hi there

Holland & Barrett usually have a selection of "alternative" toothpastes, which includes the fennel one mentioned by Toothsmith. You might even have a choice though I doubt if there are any ketchup flavours available.

Yeah, I have tried the Weleda Calendula toothpaste in the last year or so but alas, I didn't like it much. It still produced the same effect that minty ones do to me :( I think I got it from Sainsbury's, albeit in one of their "markets" i.e. not one of their regular supermarkets.

I remember trying Arm & Hammer's baking soda toothpaste many years ago. It wasn't too bad! I think they are still available in supermarkets. Or try John Lewis, they sometimes stock hard to find items.

I knew you wouldn't let me down! I will head off to some more 'alternative' toothpaste stockists next week. Can't see him fancying fennel flavoured much, he's not a great aniseed fan, but at least if he doesn't like it I can use it! I think the baking soda might be the answer, I'm sure he'd like one with as little taste as possible.

Oh and Toothsmith, he has finally changed the batteries in his toothbrush, so there's now some chance of him giving his fangs a decent brush!

Apparently, an 'ionic toothbrush' can clean your teeth without toothpaste. Just type 'ionic toothbrush' into the Google search engine.

    Hi Savvy,

They have just started doing tooth paste at Lush. I think it comes out in June. I think one is vanilla flavoured, I can't remember what flavour the other one is, but it's black! How cool is that?! Bet your son would love it. Much easier to get hold of too!

Not sure he'd like vanilla flavoured - he really is quite fussy! - but I will go and ask!

Ah, but how will I know if he has cleaned his teeth or not if there is no toothpaste smell? An absence of bad breath will be hard to detect, because he's the kind of boy who has other - odours - lingering around him. And I don't mean Lynx!

I believe vets do a beef flavoured doggy toothpaste. Not sure if it's licenced for humans though!!!! :D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
